We arrived at around 5:30 pm. after driving 45 minutes strictly to have dinner here at Armando's:
My wife and I have eaten here half a dozen times. Each visit has been a wonderful experiences from every angle. Tonight has been a nightmare. When my pizza was being delivered to the table, it was dropped. Ok, stuff happens. I just expect that my new pizza goes to the top of the priority list, and it will be out in 10 to 15 minutes. I tried to comfort the poor waitress by telling her all was well. She was very young and was new based on the fact we hadn't seen her here before. After my wife's dinner arrived, we asked the blessing, asking specifically for this young ladies' peace of heart and mind. I'm not trying to be holier than thou, just illustrating our hearts' mercy and asking for that from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our waitress never returned to us after that. The pasta dish my wife ordered came out before her dinner salad. We just asked for the salad to go. Again, that's no big deal. Worse things have happened to better people. There was no sorrow or signs of remorse from anyone from the establishment. There was no visit to our table from anyone whatsoever. After sitting there for 45 minutes and watching order on top of order being served to our surrounding tables and countless to go orders being picked up, I went to the counter and asked about my pizza. The young man didn't seem to know what I was talking about and said he'd go back and check on it. He did walk by our table, about 10 minutes later, and while in stride said to my wife, the pizza was on its way. I'm about half deaf and didn't even hear him. As he passed, I asked him what he found out about my pizza, and he said it was on its way. My wife had LONG since finished her pasta dish when my pizza arrived. We had been in this restaurant for about 90 minutes at this time. I ate three pieces, and we asked for and received to go boxes. Our receipt came. We took it to the register and paid a full price of $58.26, as there was no consideration for the poor service reflected, nor was it offered. The young man at the register seems to be the floor manager. He's been there on each of our visits. He is very kind and seems to be a very capable waiter in his own right. He apologized. I was a bit snarky and )quietly) said yes, that is reflected on the receipt. Now, I truly wasn't looking for a reduced receipt and was going to refuse if they were going to charge the waitress, but we never had the opportunity to have that conversation. Please understand that this is not a complaint as much as it is simply a review. This was a one-off experience, and quite the contrast to any of our previous experiences. I truly feel bad for Armando's. I certainly hope this is not a sign of their future. Although I do have to say, the pizza is not what I remember. It's just not the same as each...
Read moreABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The best Stromboli, pizza, and garlic knots I've ever had!!
I've been rating pizzerias all over the world for a few years. My all-time top choices include Screaming Banshee Pizza in Bisbee, Arizona; Tony's Brick oven in New Jersey, Woodstock pizza in Chico, California and NOW ARMANDOS IN GROVETOWN, GA takes the #1 spot!
The staff: They exude confidence and professionalism. They know their menu and take pride in it. There is no doubt in their mind that you will be pleased with the meal.
The appetizer: I went with garlic knots. They did not disappoint. These are better than garlic knots from any other establishment that I've tried. The balance of garlic to butter was blissful, and the dough was cooked to a light golden perfection!
The pizza: Every ingredient was fresh and bursting with flavor to create a symphony of deliciousness created by a highly trained orchestra of kitchen staff led by the maestro himself...Armando.
The Stromboli: This is a dish that requires true skill and talent to serve correctly. If the oven is too hot, it will char the dough on top befire the center is cooked. If it's not hot enough, the dough will be too mushy on the inside. It takes great care to get it right, which is why most pizzerias don't even offer it on the menu. Armando's provides Stromboli and nails it! Hands down, THE BEST!
The dessert: If desert is served in heaven, it's probably the Zeppoli from Armando's. Imagine the finest and freshest warm Krispy Kreme doughnut you've ever had. Remember how it felt in your soul...then multiply that by a factor of 10! That's what you will experience when you try the...
Read moreIf I could leave negative stars I would. My food and service was so bad it's actually comical. Easily waited 45 mins for a flat bread. Was told it would be out in 3 minutes. Actually came out 10 mins after that I guess it was just too much to say hey we forgot about you. My calzone was a pile of bread and grease. People that came in WELLLLLLL after us received food and paid and left before we even got all of our food. Best part is probably when we were told they ran out of sweet tea... So basically everyone was to lazy to turn water into tea. We actually thought she was joking but nope sure enough didn't offer us anymore tea. Apparently the owner showed up so he spoke to the tables with good service but not us... Go figure. The whole time the waitress just acted like we were all friends I guess so we'd forget how terrible our experience was... It didn't work. I would've much preferred good food and service and not a bad comedian. The tea got taken off the bill and she told us like it was a favor...you know after refusing to make any I think at the very least we shouldn't pay. In defense of the server she gave us a free dessert... But I promise after such poor service and food we wanted nothing more then to go home and I threw the dessert away as soon as I got home. Also in her defense she had a great time while we received terrible service and a god awful experience. By far the worst dine in experience I have possibly ever had... For sure the worst experience I've ever had in the grovetown area... They could actually compete for worst service in the csra... Save your time and money and...
