Man, this one hurts to write. I was super excited for this place so I went to celebrate my birthday and it was a disappointment from the start. We arrived and immediately something was weird. Apparently they were having some kind of photoshoot for some tik-tokers or something? They were loud and obnoxious the entire time they were there. There was another guy at the bar talking to the sushi chef that was also very loud, drunk even. We were sat next to the window and given menus. While we looked at the menu, another couple was sat next to us. We waited 5 minutes and just when we thought we were gonna be asked for our drinks, he instead takes the other couples order FIRST?🚩He then turns around and takes our order. We order the baby octopus app, sake, a damajin roll and a crazy Frankie roll. He comes back a bit later and brings them their food before our app. 🚩 Our app arrives: this is probably the blandest seaweed salad and octopus I've ever tasted. I've tasted supermax seaweed salad that tasted better. The soy sauce couldn't save it. 🚩 Our sushi arrived rather quickly, but the presentation was underwhelming. The Frankie roll was alright but the damajin roll was NOT what I expected. The vegetables didn't taste fresh at all. The cucumber was mushy not crisp, there was barely any eel sauce and was just mid. 🚩My fiance wanted some more eel sauce so she ate one bite and stopped eating until the waiter finally noticed and we got to ask for some sauce.🚩 Mind you, there's only 3 customers in the restaurant at this point. We wait a whole 10mins and server is just cleaning and setting up tables. We give up on getting his attention and just finish the meal and ask for the check. We never got the eel sauce.
I almost never get free days that coincide with this restaurants schedule and I was really looking forward to this. It was a huge...
Read moreTraditional. Supposedly. Actually the Sushi is more on the side of fusion cooking trying to cater to Puertorrican taste and that's fine but they don't quite achieve it. Some of the specialty sushi are so cluttered with ingredients like BBQ and Mango sauces which don't mix well and it ruins the experience. The classic sushi are tasty like they should, sometimes you can't beat simplicity. The traditional soups like Ramen and Udon are really legit stuff, seaweedy and fishy so steer away if that is not your thing, otherwise enjoy. The ingredients were fresh and good so that's a plus. Ambient and decorations are really Japanese feeling. The service was spotty, the waitress got one roll wrong, the replaced it and said they would not charge it but then billed us for it afterwards (and I complained for it) and then she got confused and almost billed us double tips (tips were already included because we were a group of 5). All in all, not a horrible experience but less desirable than what we expected from a pricy place. If your feeling adventurous then go ahead but if you love sushi and wants a familiar experience in a new...
Read moreWe arrived at 1pm on a Thursday afternoon. Unknown to us, the restaurant was suppose to open a few hours later. Regardless, the owner was kind enough to let us in and serve us. We ordered two different rolls of sushi and they have been some of the best rolls I've ever had, but we didn't come for sushi, we came for ramen. It did NOT disappoint. The pork belly was succulent, the hard boiled egg was savory and at the same time, sweet. The broth was rich and full of flavor. It was garnished with mushroom, broccoli and some herbs, perfectly harmonizing with all the other elements of the ramen bowl. If you're looking for a genuine japanese ramen bowl and experience, Daimajin should be your first choice. 100/10, please support...
