Food was really subpar. Service was non existent. Nice views of the harbor though.
We ordered two clam chowders and two fish tacos to split with my wife, along with a couple beers. The cashier didn’t smile and acted disinterested when I asked some questions.
The clam chowder was really disappointing. It just tasted like flour with some cream. No seasoning whatsoever. The clams were super skimpy, and worse, tough and chewy. Some carrots were soft, some were chewy; but why even add carrots to a clam chowder? . It needed a bunch of salt and pepper and hot sauce to make it taste like something. Neither of us finished it.
The fish tacos were in the same category. The batter had no seasoning or salt. The fish had no seasoning either. It was plain as plain can be. Pico has yellow, unripe tomatoes. The guac / cream were ok. For $8.5 a taco, I’d expect some top tier tacos. Not in the slightest.
The IPA was decent, but $9 is pretty pricey.
All in all the meal, for lack of a better term, sucked. The views and gift shop were worth one star though. At least the lady in the shop was nice and there was a chill cat in there
Plenty of other spots to choose from, wish we had...

We had our rehearsal dinner here with our wedding party and couldn’t have picked a better place! The setup was perfect — we sat together inside, everyone ordered what they wanted at the outdoor window, and drinks were easy to grab!
The staff was so kind and thoughtful, making sure vegan and gluten-free options were ready for us (which meant a lot to us since the options were amazing and special!) and even delivered our order right to our tables. Our vegetarian friends are still dreaming about the artichoke dishes! And our Vegan friend, said she was over the moon with her Tofu Tacos!
To top it off, we got married at Secret Gardens — and it turns out the owners of The Birds Cafe are the very family who originally created that venue. That little detail made everything feel extra meaningful!

This was not it. Nice atmosphere, quaint buildings. 3 separated buildings for food order and kitchen, coffee shop, dessert bar and dining area, and last but not least a building for gifts.
What caught our eye was the nice presentation of the business as well as the name. "The Birds Cafe" in honor of the Alfred Hitchcock movie.
We ordered a light lunch only appetizers, and of course a bowl of clam chowder.
First taste of the clam chowder and this was bad. First was the consistency. Watery and not thick. They used a water base. Lots of chopped up clams, but little portions of potato, carrots and celery.
Our other snack was fried artichoke bits. Hopefully they couldn't ruin cooking these. They were good. Portions were small with ranch dressing. My opinion they could have offered marinated leaves of some type as an option.
Prices were to high for product.
