We've visited here a couple of other times, and haven't had bad food yet. In fact, the pizza is the best I've had on the island. The area of improvement is their service. Specifically today, we were paying for the buffet when another customer asked the young girl who was helping us if she could check on the special pizza she'd requested. This other customer mentioned she doesn't eat meat, ever, and asked for a pizza without meat. She mentioned that she'd been waiting with her family over 20 minutes, and they're all done eating and she still couldn't eat yet due to her request not being out. The young girl who worked there had the ugliest response I've ever heard. She replied to this customer, "well, they said it's there on the buffet and so I don't know" then went on rambling rudely "I don't make the pizzas, it's not my fault, I can't help it if it's not there, I don't know what you want me to do about it".
Let me start off by saying, that happened as we were paying for our food. I was right in the middle. So I felt like it was not right at all for this customer, who doesn't eat meat, to be treated so poorly. I responded to this young girl, and it was simple. Yes, it is your responsibility. You work here. Even if you don't make the pizzas, she only wanted someone to help her get what she'd already asked and paid for.
There were also two other young girls standing with her, any one of them could've stepped up and helped out. But, I hope this young girl knows that's not how you treat paying customers. She needs to be trained in basic customer skills. Being polite, and diligent are simple. Making sure your customers are happy, that's simple too. After that, I won't bring my family back in. Plus, as many people as there were standing around, those people could've cleaned a few tables. I suggest you hire and train your staff to treat customers with respect...
Read moreI have a rule in rating. Don't give below 3 if the food is amazing. In my opinion, the reason I'm eating out is because I can't make this myself or I don't feel like it. I'm there to eat. I love good service and who doesn't love good prices. The people here honestly earn 3 stars. They are always "nice". They are that kinda nice where it seems disingenuine, like being nice took a ton of effort. The place is usually clean. The bathroom is pretty normal. The atmosphere is very eat and leave, please don't stay. Which makes a perfect to-go spot, almost like a Chinese take-out place, you feel like they really don't want you to stay. They are quick but not super fast.
I've been several times in the last year and I have to say The Flying Pig Stix are my favorite! They have a good ranch and a good sweeter but not-too-sweet marinara, the Cheddar is often slightly offset from the rest of the flavors which really makes it stand out. I love a good Cheddar. It reheats well too, hahahah. Their pizzas are awesome. Sandwiches are awesome. Their ingredients are always fresh so I can imagine they have good produce. The food is easily 5-star rated. The price is only ok but very competitive. For me, the sandwiches are where you get your bang-for-your-buck.
I can't get over their eat and leave atmosphere and the fake smiles. That's where the 3 was earned. I considered a 4 but for lots of people service is why they can't wait to come back, if the food is good. I like going because the food is great. I don't like...
Read moreThis pizza was probably the highlight of our family vacation to the Gulf Shores. My son really wanted pizza our first night here. So we tried this little hole in the wall on the main strip of town. It’s a pretty simple operation that touted itself as having been there doing pizza for 46 years now. So they should really have it figured out, right? You bet they do! Let’s start with the Rasta breadsticks. These things are the bomb! Pepperoni, pineapple and a light sprinkling of jalapeño. Not real spicy but sooo flavorful. Baked with cheese all the way to the edge and just nicely browned and the sprinkle of Parmesan on top. These things are a MUST TRY item! We also got two pizzas. The Crico’s Favorite and a Hawaiian. Both were excellent! Again, great crust. Not too thick. Not too thin. Crunchy, pliable and chewy all at once. Cheese reaching to outer edges similar to a Detroit Style crust. And great flavor! You will want to eat all your crust here!! Next, the sauce. Just the right amount. Not acidic. Not spicy. Totally flavorful. Serve your Rasta sticks with some sauce vs ranch! The cheese used was quality. Not oily. Perfectly melted and done just right so it almost carmalizes on top. Fair price for what you get. Limited seating for a crowd but doable. Good location. Keep up the excellent job here! You’ve really got something special going on that will keep people coming...
