Let me just start off by saying I had an amazing experience at this hotel up until check out which was at 10am. We (my mom, 13yr old son and 7yr old son) stayed in room 505 which had a beautiful view of the pool area, Pinky Pony Pub, and the ocean. The balconies are all private on the back and shared on the front overlooking the town. There is quick access to the beach from the pool area, and it was not crowded. The room had a master bdrm, bunkbeds in the hall, and a pull out sofa. We didn't experience an issue with this hotel until check out yesterday. Myself and my mom went looking for a cart and a buggy at 9:10am. After waiting 15 mins for an elevator, my mom is not able to climb stairs, we found none available which means we now had to make two trips down to car. On the way back up to the room, the maid was on the elevator with us and followed us to our room. She stayed outside of our door as if she was rushing us to leave. I have never experienced this any where I have ever stayed! I had to tell her we had to come back to the room to get the rest of our things so she wouldn't go in. We probably should of let her go in. We were parked on P and the time was now around 9:30am. We ALL grab as much as we could for the first trip down to the car and waited more than 30mins on an elevator. 7 elevators came and they were all full with ppl and carts. I guess the maid got tired of watching us wait on an elevator that she tried to get on the other elevator which was just as slow. We finally got an elevator, loaded the luggage in the car and then went back for the second haul; the time now was 10:12am. On the way back up, a married couple on the same floor as us, and had the same complaints about the elevator and carts. We all got off the elevator, they were able to put in their code and go into their room but we were not. The code no longer worked! The maid apparently had gotten her cart stuck on the other elevator and was struggling, so I went and asked her if she needed help and also if she could help us with getting into the room. Her code wouldn't work either! I called the front desk and the receptionist was BEYOND RUDE!!!! She had a bad attitude and did not know how to professionally deal with my frustrations as I explained the wait for an elevator and having to make two trips to the room only to be locked out. She had an attitude as she explained to me that the codes change automatically at 10am. I told her that was not true as I just watched someone walk into their room who were also checking out. She rudely pointed out that she could give me a code to put in and that the code would only allow access one time and that I could not go back into the room again. Ma'am, I just want my things. I am not trying to sneak into this condo! I was appalled at the service I was receiving! We got the rest of our things, and put them in the car. I then went up to the 1st floor to speak with the manager who was not in yet. I ended up making a complaint to the Brett Robinson representative who was a really nice man! From this experience alone, I will NOT be back at this particular Phoenix hotel. I have stayed at multiple Phoenix properties and this one was the absolute worst when it came to...
Read moreFirst off, the ONLY reason this facility received a second star is due to the fantastic location. Truly within walking distance to many of the restaurants and shoppes. Views were great, but that is a given when you book a beachfront property. Now, the rest of the story... Room wasn't spectacularly clean or modern, but it was acceptable. My wife, kids, and I are not in need of "perfect" conditions, nor are we a very demanding bunch. That said, you can read all the other reviews regarding the elevators here... They are SPOT-ON! This "issue" didn't ruin our trip, but it certainly made it stressful and miserable at times. One elevator was broken and the other one was shared, not only by all the other guests, but the housekeeping staff, as well. Being on the 7th floor, there were times it took 20-minutes to get to our room. Walking stairs is fine during the work-week, but on vacation, carrying coolers, beach-gear, etc., was not relaxing. Next, we opted not to have room service (change of towels) on our 2nd day, since we really didn't need it yet. The 3rd day was a different story. We pulled the Do Not Disturb sign from the door and headed to New Orleans for the day. Posted signage in rooms states rooms will be serviced by 3pm... No problem for us. When we returned, we found our room untouched. No clean towels and a sheet or two of toilet paper remaining for a family of 4. My wife proceeded to speak with Patrick in the office (keep in mind she's pretty easy going and is not unrealistic). When I returned from lugging our stuff from the car to the room, she explained that Patrick was not only rude, but that his explanation was that housekeeping had not gotten to us because they had to prepare other rooms for check-in. WHAT?! That may be the most insulting treatment I've received at any hotel, ever. And I've stayed in Motel 8's, Howard Johnson's, and a couple of sketchy roadside inns in my life. Nonetheless, we cooled off, went to bed and left the next morning for Pensacola. When we returned, our room had been "serviced" (They don't really clean, just stock towels and take out trash). From the trash can to the front door, they had let the trash bag leak on the floor. Appeared to be some residual liquid from one of my daughter's juiceboxes. I'll cut it short, but we certainly will never stay here again and I will likely go out of my way to tell friends and family (only because of the rude treatment... Sincere apologies go a long way, folks.) Pros: View, Location
Cons: Paper thin walls, service, elevator(s),...
Read moreI made a spontaneous decision to stay in GS for a long weekend. I have stayed at PAS before and found it to be reasonably priced for this time of year (it came out to about $200/ night when you factor in parking and taxes). After booking, I got the email about construction... I was devastated! No pool and the parking garage was closed (I purchased a new car 2 days before, so I really wanted covered parking). But, it non-refundable so I couldn't opt for another location (wish I had booked PASW since PAS was under construction). Ultimately, it wasnt terrible. It wasn't as nice as the first time I stayed because of the construction done, but they have to get the work done sometime. I was locked out of my room three times because of an issue with the keypad on door. Finally when the front desk person came up with me to confirm I wasn't crazy and punching the wrong numbers in, he figured out the problem and fixed it. (Before he figured it out, he said he would put in a ticket - so I asked if I was confined to my room or would have to leave the door propped open each time I left and he said "I guess so". Thankfully I didn't have to such!) I was in room 609. The bed was amazing! Appliances were all in tip top shape and other than having to log into the next units internet, all was more than adequate. The A/C was cold - you're in luck if you like it freezing! There was a very large gap (about .5" in the front door which did let lots of noise in. The bedroom is in the front of the unit, so I did road noise. I ended up putting a rolled up towel under the door to have peace of mind. For the price point, I felt any issues were minor. $200 a night is a lot, but given the average for the area - I feel it's reasonable. If you want luxury, book Turquoise... if you want a safe, reasonably priced place to stay to enjoy GS - consider PAS. But call to check on any construction prior to booking (this would be smart advice for all condo bookings - all properties require and undergo maintenance from...
