My husband & I have been going to OBA/Gulf Shores every year for 10 years and I am upset that I haven’t been to this place SOONER!! I had the most wonderful experience with the hair braider / artist who took me quickly as a walk in- she did an AMAZING JOB!!! Also, I was especially impressed when I realized that she was actually getting off from her shift for the day when I arrived, and enthusiastically told me she could stay a little late to take me anyways. She did not have to do that, and the quality of her attitude, skill, and customer service was above and beyond. She did a fantastic job and had great energy and positive attitude , took her time to get set back up and show me extension/ bead options- and then was able to get the whole the done PERFECTLY within like, 20 minutes! As a hairstylist/cosmetologist myself, I could not have done a job this well in a whole hour!!! She turned me around and I looked like a dang unicorn angel beach goddess and I was so happy I got this done for the convenience / cuteness that lasted ALL 7 days of our beach trip. She covered all the bases and I honestly wish I had found this little gem sooner, its a great one stop shop for a variety of reasons and I liked learning that the shop has been in business for a decade with a very close, family-like staff who take care of each other and this small local business. I shopped for a while afterwards and bought a few adorable items that were unique, unlike the jacked up $$$ of generic tourist souvenir shops. Reasonably priced, great variety of inventory. I am terribly sorry to forget the name of the angel who did my hair but she is amazing and has a beautiful unique accent and I hope she knows she’s a baddie and made me LOOK POPPIN with the precision of a wizard . Great family owned business that is a rare gem in a busy beach town & if you haven’t gone there yet then jokes on you!

I got a snug piercing here and the experience was less than great. After initially piercing it, the gal spent a minimum of 5 minutes (I am NOT exaggerating) trying to get the earring through, going partly in and back out again several times. Then she explained that she was going to use a different type of earring that would be easier to get in. She proceeded to take another couple minutes or so trying to get that one in. She ultimately REPIERCED the spot and finally got the earring in place. After she was finished, she decided that that was a good time to inform my friend and I that she doesn't really do those piercings but did it anyway because she "felt bad" for saying no to the rook piercing I had originally asked for. Three days later, I am now dealing with an infection in the piercing site and will most likely have to remove it for good. It is swollen to the point where it has engulfed the entire bar and is pinning the flat back into the cartilage next to the piercing site. The piercer was nice and all and did well with my lobe piercings, but that was so irresponsible. We chose Island Girl because of all the great reviews, but now I regret it. $50 most likely down the drain...

We had such a fun and memorable experience at Island Girl Jewelry and Souvenir Shop! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a super friendly atmosphere. My 6-year-old was over the moon excited to get a temporary tattoo, and the staff made the entire experience unforgettable for him.

He got to choose from a wide variety of fun designs, and he ended up picking a really cool one for his back. The lady who applied the tattoo was so sweet and patient she made him feel like such a big deal. She went above and beyond to make the process fun and special.

Once the tattoo was done, we took some pictures pretending he had gotten a real one with a tattoo gun he was absolutely thrilled, and we all got such a good laugh out of it! It was such a lighthearted and joyful moment that we’ll definitely remember.
