Elaine's Place To Be — Restaurant in Gulfport

The owner was absolutely friendly and professional. I felt like I’ve known him forever. I’m from TN and had a lot questions about his catfish and he gave my man and me a catfish 101which was appreciated. The bartender who created this drink called island twist- omgggggg it was absolutely delicious and the drinks were flowing freely all night since we walked in the door. Get you a strawberry island twist & thank me later!

They also have hookah service for the patio area only since no smoking is allowed inside. The patios is absolutely amazing and if it rains it’s ok b/c it’s closed off to give an all around experience regardless of the weather.

Owner also shared that they have been in business for nearly 20 yrs on Mother’s Day if I remember correctly and his mom definitely raised and instilled greatness in this man. Family vibes for sure and the hospitality was southern-ing!! No complaints there.

You will be waiting a while for your order, but it could have been a busy night when I went during cruising the coast weekend so don’t hold that against them. That goes to show that money is flowing and food is being sold to the masses lol.

Oh and when you come to Ms Elaine’s establishment don’t dare disrespect her by repping anything other than the NOLA Saints babbbbby lol. Elaine’s is definitely the place to be and I can’t wait to visit again. All of the urban areas around the world needs an Elaine’s establishment.

Oh and the cost-It was free to get in b/c we were early and a tab for 2 was under $70 with hookah and 3 rounds of drinks and shots with 1 catfish plate. #WhoDat Ms...

The place is easy to find, but parking is a nightmare, so very there early.

There was security present checking bags and patting down males.

If you have a booked section, there's a VIP line, but still be prepared to stand there for really no reason other than disorganization. Also, be mindful that ALL your party must be together in line to enter for your section. Whoever isn't in line will have to go through the regular line, which looked like a FEMA line.

The section wasn't a section. It was just a table with chairs- nothing exclusive.

The dj was the star of this place. He played a nice variety of music: Hip Hop, Rap, R&B, and Blues.

There are two bars and the bartenders were pretty fast. IDK how much the drinks are because my drinks were bought by others.

My sister ordered a shrimp plate, and it was abundant with a decent taste (we're Louisiana seafood snobs, so it takes much in that department to impress us).

The restroom was clean and functional.

Terrible place. But if you like low standard service this is the place for you. Signs everywhere saying no weed and that's all you smell in the back outside. After 11pm the service just collapses. You have to wait for over 30mins to get a drink. They talk to their regulars like they have no one else to serve and 20 people are waiting. They don't care at all. I ordered food and it never came after 1 hr 30 mins. Had to even wait to get my refund. I know in low income areas this is expected so if this doesn't bother you then this is the place for you. I just deman better especially when you have a cover charge. That's a clear sign of a low...
