I've been to 3 different El Saltillos on the coast and this is the first one I have a complaint about. First, I watched the young white male server, who was working the bar also, look through the trash for a receipt followed by walking back to the bar and handling people's drinks. There was no handwashing in between. Second, the bean soup was scalding hot. I bumped the edge of the booth (they are slightly smaller than the ones at Long Beach that I'm used to) and spilled some of the juice on my hand. My hand is still burning off and on hours later. I had to wait until after my meal for it to be cool enough to eat and it had a scorched taste. Third, my plate was covered in grease after eating my shrimp quesadilla, which doesn't happen when I eat it at the one in Long Beach or Biloxi. Finally, our waitress checked on us one time. The 2nd time she came to our table was to bring the check and didn't stick around long enough to be asked for a to go box nor ask did we want one. My son had to get the attention of a waitress who wasn't ours to get him a to go box and we didn't get a single drink refill despite all of us needing one. I am a former server. I almost always leave a generous tip. I didn't today. I will stick to the one in Long Beach despite this one being...
Read moreNew name, New owners, Same great location. Great place to have a good meal away from the busy restaurants on the coast. The food was good. As usual I got the nachos. I had asked for ground beef but got steak. The layering could have been better as the nacho cheese had made the bottom chips very mushy. The steak tasted fine, however it was VERY chewy. So much so I had to spit some out. It was very stringy as well. But the taste as well as the cheese and beans were on point. The amount of food was great, we all came back with leftovers. Very nice waitresses. We went in the late afternoon, there were maybe 3 tables, including ours with customers. With that being said, it was unfortunate to see a dirty table sit untouched the entire time (when we walked in/out). Other than the name, the place is set up just like the previous Mexican restaurant that was there. There is plenty of space for large parties, and booths are the right size for a party of 6. There is also a bar at the back or the restaurant. We'll probably go again next we're down there, for the amount of food and the costs, it's...
