Located right in Fishbone Alley in downtown Gulfport it has a great vibe. We did a sampler of the meats with a side of onion rings and salad. The combo came with brisket, ribs, pulled pork and pulled chicken. All of the meat was good and smoked well. My disappointment was the brisket was tough. It was not that melt in my mouth that I'm used to, having live 13 years in Texas. The pulled items were a little dried out but still tasty. This is served with their 3 types of barbecue sauce labeled vinegar, sweet and hot. I am not a fan of vinegar but I liked this one the most. The sweet was good but VERY sweet and the hot was good without being over the top. The salad was just okay. A couple of bad leaves in the romaine. I ordered it with their house made ranch (very tasty). The onion rings were good made using their in tap beers for batter but a little greasy. But hey if you're going to have onion rings they need to be greasy! Now our server Jordan, she was the greatest! We didn't have to wait for anything. Many times even if the food isn't off the charts a server can make or break the business. Thank you Jordan for a great experience!.

2024 edit: Back at Muddy Waters 3 years later. Geezuss this BBQspot is phenomenal. I have mastered pit smoking. This place is as close to perfect as you can hope for. Service is attentive, friendly, southern hospitality as a howdy. Love everything about Murky Waters. Will always return here when in town. Y'all take care. Howdy folks. I'm live in Texas, a BBQ state. Visiting I got a hankering for BBQ. Google "best BBQ". Murky Waters popped up. Called in an order. Jenn took the order. Jenn is spectacular. Greeted with a smile that shined through the phone. Awesome. Got to the spot. Located in a trendy Lil spot near the coast. They are Covid sensitive and brought it out to the car. Nice. Tip took this into consideration. Always tip good eateries commensurate with the service plus some. The food. Good enough to be exported to Texas. I am an amateur pit artist myself. Two nice wood smokers on my patio in Texas. I spend no less than 6 to 12 hours when I roll smoke. These ribs could take me down a notch. Sides are perfectly seasoned and the portions are generous. Come hungry. This spot runs on all cylinders.

GOOD BBQ!!! We were in town July 2024 & looking for something good to eat & found this place on Goggle. The reviews were good, so we decided to try it out! Well, everyone was right! We walked in & it wasn't really busy, so I was a little apprehensive. We were greeted by a nice young lady & she went over the menu for me. She did explain that the ribs were popular, but everything was also good! I was torn between the ribs, pulled pork, and fried fish. I ordered a 2 meat platter, my daughter had a pulled pork sandwich, and my son had chicken bites. It took about 15-20 mins for the food to come out and everything was ordered and nice & hot. The RIBS & PULLED PORK were DELICIOUS!! I did try all 3 bbq sauces also, and all 3 were different but good. The mac & cheese & potatoe salad were ok. And the sweet tea was just as sweet as I like it! I would definitely recommend this place & will definitely return if I'm back in town. I think they have some form of music performances there also.

Overpriced and overcooked

Me and my party of 4 others came from out of state to eat here. The pictures looked great on google and the rating is fairly high. My main complaint is with the food but I’ll go into detail about each topic. As far as service is concerned our waitress was fine she did what was required of her or any request we had for her nothing extra so it was decent. But that’s fine. The food was awful. One of the worst BBQ restaurants I’ve ever been to. And I eat it quite often and try new places so on and so forth. Nevertheless, the brisket was bone dry, the ribs were dry and disgusting (definitely not fall off the bone but they don’t claim to be to my knowledge, so…), the bone in chicken wings (dry rub) barely had any meat and they were crispy and dry as well. All of the BBQ sauces were bad especially the mild one which made me gag (the sweet one was okay). The pork was dry (we had three people get pork on their plate and they were all dry), the waffle fries were over seasoned and way too salty, and the collard greens were too spicy (I guess adding an excessive amount of spice is their version of fixing a lack of flavor in that case). The “toast” they give is a slice of bread cut into triangles with about a stick of butter added to each side to give it a delicious and pure cholesterol taste and slightly toasted. As far as atmosphere goes it was dark and depressing. Also, the waitresses and waiters looked miserable. The food was way too pricy for the quality we received. We didn’t complain at the restaurant but I wanted to inform the public of this issue. Overall a very poor experience. 10/10 do...

Hugely disappointing - equally due to the server, the food and the service. The restaurant was maybe a third full. Ran out of burnt ends before 7pm on a Thursday. Asked the server what the portion size was on the brisket (hoping for a measure by weight like every other BBQ I've ever been too..) "4 Slices" was her response... Huh? That doesn't tell me anything . Every other bbq joint sells by weight. I order it anyway with the collards and the baked beans. I wait for the follow up question of "lean or fatty"... it never comes. It's now painfully obvious she doesn't know what she's doing. I tell her that I would like the fatty. She takes the rest of the orders at our table for 4.

25 minutes later our food finally shows up. This may not be such a big deal in other places but every single item that was ordered (all of the meats and all of the sides) was already cooked when we walked in the door and as I said the restaurant was maybe a third full. 25 minutes to simply plate the food ? So how was the food ?

The brisket was indeed 4 slices of very thinly sliced brisket (the thinnest I've ever been served) that was meh at best. The beans were good but the collards were inedible, so much so that I asked for something else and was brought the potato salad - it was tasty enough. Two of the others in my group got the ribs which looked overcooked.

I was in Biloxi on business and had gone to this place on a recommendation of an acquaintance. This will be the last time I take restaurant...

Today was our second time here, and it was disappointing, especially in comparison to our first time here last month. We sat outside as we were given the option, but apparently that was a mistake. Our waitress hardly checked on us and I went without my tea refill. My husband at the very least got his beers.

We got the wings again as an appetizer, came to us hardly lukewarm. Taste was there, we just don’t like our wings sitting out for x amount of time before getting to our table. It took a good 25min to make it to us cold/lukewarm.

I never got my waffle fries with my brisket platter. Again, both mine and my husband’s food were lukewarm at best. Same with our toddler’s, however I was actually okay with that because he dove in right away.

The baked beans are something to be proud of, as is the taste of the wings; however, everything else was not good. Brisket had hardly any flavor. You really need to use their BBQ sauce to get any kind of taste.

2 stars as the wings and two beers were comped by the lovely gal ( not our waitress/server) who cashed us out as our server never came back out with the missing waffle fries or our check so we walked to the hostess stand inside to cash out. With how often we didn’t get checked in on, had we not been honest people we could have easily walked out the back patio without paying. We don’t need that karma in our...
