I want to preface this by saying that I really did want to love this place, and maybe we came in on the wrong night... that being said:
What drew us into this retro diner was one poster that hung in the window - "All you can eat Fish Fry- Fridays."
When we entered, it was like taking a trip back in time. The photos that hung on the wall and the style of chairs and tables screamed retro (in a very cool way). We sat at the table and began looking over the menus that were adhered to the table (a feature I enjoyed-knowing that they were cleaned as often as the table was). My group ordered 3 hamburgers, and 2 all you can eat fish fry baskets. The food was phenomenal, which is why I really wanted to be able to leave a 5-star review, but the server was atrocious.
When asked for refills, our sodas were mixed up and people that asked for Dr Pepper received Diet Pepsi (no huge deal to us), when we let her know and asked for her to make the order correct, her face visibly changed. Her smile faded, and she rolled her eyes at our table. After that, anytime we asked her for anything, it took over 20 minutes to receive. We attempted to order more fish since it was all you could eat. It took 20 minutes fornit to arrive, and although 2 of us asked for the second helping, only one basket came. We tried to ask for another one, but it took so long that we ultimately ended up leaving without it.
I understand that Friday's are game days and the restraunt was busy with kids for a portion of our meal, but the service provided had NOTHING to do with how busy our server was.
The service received at a restraunt can either make or break your overall experience. Unfortunately, it was the latter for our group. Maybe you will have...
Read moreI'd been wanting to check out this place for awhile and today we had time and so we went in. I thought it only had parallel parking on the west side but it turned out that it was located in the corner of the building it's in and so there is more parking on the north side where the front door turned out to be.
Walking in it looked like a small 50's diner with oldies playing music over the speakers. There were pictures all over the walls of old movies and actors. Even the restrooms had signs up: "T-Birds" for the men and "Pink ladies" for the womens.
We sat ourselves down at a table and a waitress immediately came to get our drink orders. We both ordered sweet teas and she handed us paper menus filled with options. On the back is a kids menu and a place for kids to play. The teas took awhile as they were having to make more.
I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy and Texas toast and my husband ordered Hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and Texas toast. Both of the meals came with small salads.
When the food arrived, it was bigger than the plate! My Chicken fried steak looked huge, it was once I was cutting into it where I found that most all of it was crust. My husband liked his Hamburger steak and couldn't finish his potatoes before he was full. It was all delicious though besides all the crusts.
The waitress never came back to check on drinks or see how we were doing. She showed back up at the end to ask if she could clear our table and we asked for more drinks in to go cups.
Well now I can say I've come and experienced this Boomerang, not sure if I'd come back but maybe to try other things...
Read moreGreat food but poor service, I ordered the super chili cheeseburger ($9+). I knew I couldn't eat a half pound patty so I asked if I could have a quarter pound patty, the waitress looked as if she didn't understand. When the order came it didn't have cheese (menu said it came with double cheese and all the fixings) when I was able to flag down the waitress, she said are you sure? I showed her the menu, she looked at our ticket and walked into the kitchen and came back with one slice of cheese on top of a tomatoes slice and piece of lettuce. I thought the least she could have done was offer to take the burger and heat it so that the cheese would have melted. When we looked at the ticket she had just written a regular cheeseburger with chili. When my husband was paying he asked the cashier if I could have a soft drink too go, she asked our waitress to get it for me, she put the ice in the cup, left it on the dispenser and started doing something else behind the counter, after waiting for about three minutes I just told her forget it we needed to leave, her response was "oh ok have a good evening" we have always had good service and food during morning hours for breakfast. Evidently this waitress has no idea of basic serving practices. Sorry this was so long but at the moment I'm not a...
