The hubs and I stumbled upon the Apothecary Garden which, in turn, led us to the museum! The garden was beautiful and well groomed, the small pond was vibrant and incredibly peaceful. The museum was super rad and the ladies working were extremely informative, taking time to share a lot of history with us as we rummaged through the old medicine bottles and prescription books. A fascinating glimpse into past and a reminder of just how far medical science has come. There is a lot packed into a relatively small space but you are free to browse at your leisure so take your time. The docents are kind of hit or miss. For the most part they are pharmacy students from an area university, their levels of engagement and knowledge can vary wildly. Quite the little museum. Its interesting to see how many herbs are medicinal as well as some of the narcotics that were in general use in the late 1800s. There was an old Poison list showing who bought what poison, where they lived and why it was bought. Cocaine and opium generally had "habit" as the reason. We don't seem to learn.
