“Sinaloa,” that is a familiar name, and this is their “Signature” restaurant. Can you say El Chapo? If you dined in down town Guthrie a few years ago, you will remember Stacy’s Place. Same cool old building. It is now Sinaloa, advertising its food as “Authentic Coastal Mexican.” For me, not knowing what coastal Mexican food is, I couldn’t tell you if it was, or not, but the natural assumption would be a fish and seafood-based menu. It seems to be that. The “Tower” is the colorful stack of seafood and vegetables that got my attention. Not a meal I would normally order. Unique to me and worth a try. It is a simple combination of shrimp, octopus, crab, cucumber, red onion, tomato and avocado, forced into a shape of a cylinder than flooded with lime juice. The seafood was fresh tasting and the vegetables were crisp. The tart lime juice made for a tasty seafood salad. The shrimp and octopus were identifiable, but the third seafood participant which was said to be crab did not look or taste like any crab I have had before. It tasted fresh but the texture and appearance didn’t match my experience with crab. Maybe it was some type of crab found only on the west coast of Mexico. I don’t know? I enjoyed the meal more, after a liberal application of the salsas that came in the plastic squirt bottles. My wife had a Chicken Quesadilla which was Meh. Overall, not the version of Mexican food I seek out. Then there is the credit card fee, which is getting a little irritating. The Mexican restaurants especially, have been doing this for reasons I believe are other than their stated excuse. 4%, 4 pennies on the dollar. Just raise the prices. It will go unnoticed. If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've probably been there.

My last time I had a chance to eat at Sinaloa they were in business on Waterloo and it was their last day of business. When I found out they reopened in Guthrie it was just a matter of time before I got a chance to eat here. Today was my lucky day! After a doctor’s appointment we made the decision to drive to Guthrie to have dinner. We were there in mid to late afternoon and no was in the restaurant. It was rather nice to be the only ones there! Our server Leslie was fantastic! She provided the help we needed in ordering our dinner! I chose the Carne Asada Burrito and at first I thought hmmmm a burrito but has no sauce. Turned out to be a great meal, it was stuffed with cheese, rice, beans & meat! Very tasty’ My wife chose the Birria Quesadilla’s - curly better than my meal! So much flavor and oh so delicious! I did ask for flour tortillas and relish and to my surprise when I received sliced radishes & cucumbers. Both of which were very fresh yet not what I expected. Instead it was a good twist on some thing I never had before. It was a great dining experience and I would definitely recommend trying this place out.

Tortino pepper, birria taco, shrimp taco, fish taco, side of chips and salsa, side of beans and rice. Both items with shrimp were good, well seasoned and cooked just right. Birria taco was good too. Fish taco was missing something, when we asked if it came with a sauce the waitress said they make the sauce/salsa to go with it, they just forgot to give it to us… Chips were good, salsa was just ok. Beans and rice….meh. Prices were a little high especially considering you almost have to get things à la carte…. Went on a Monday evening, it wasn’t busy. But the customer service was very spacey and inconsistent. Had to ask a different waitress for a knife to cut the pepper appetizer and sauce for the fish taco. Nice to have some variety of the other several Mexican food restaurants in town, but I doubt we would return anytime soon. Two of us with items listed cost about $30.

Decided to try this place with a to go order since it's close to my house and gets good reviews. I was extremely disappointed. I ordered beef/chicken fajitas, a birra Taco, guacamole and chips.

First, the fajitas were a disaster. The beef is cut with the grain instead of against the grain like it should be. This made it chewy and tough. The chicken was dry and overcooked. None of it had any flavor. Judging by how quickly they prepared my order while I waited, there is no way this dish was prepared fresh. It tasted like left overs warmed up on the flat top. Also, for the price, the fajitas came with no cheese, sour cream or guac. A rip off for what they charge.

The birra Taco was laying flat in a the container in its own grease instead of proped up on a bed of lettuce. What should have been a nice crispy taco was a soggy mess.

The guacamole was mostly huge chuncks of onion. The onion was the star of the dish and not the avocado.

The chips were the only thing I tasted that I might go back for.

Either these glowing 5 start reviews are fake or they've lost their regular cook and hired someone who has no idea how to prepare...
