What an amazing experience! I'd give not only the theater itself, but the production crew 10 stars if I could! I've lived close to Guthrie for a few years now and just learned of The Pollard Theater a few months ago while visiting City Hall. When I was told that 'Little Shop of Horrors' was in the works (my FAVORITE play), I didn't hesitate to purchase tickets for my friend and I. One word: BRAVO!!
Purchasing the tickets was a breeze online! I was able to select my seats (G10 and G11) and received them right on my phone! Just an FYI, it costs an additional $5 to 'print' your tickets. The theater's lobby opens and hour prior to show time, and auditorium doors open 30 minutes prior. There are snacks and beverages (including alcohol) available for purchase at a reasonable price as well. There is also a 15 minute intermission in-between.
The auditorium itself is incredibly easy to navigate when finding your seats. The seats themselves are SO comfortable (super cushiony and a little wider-NICE!) but they are definitely a little lower than I expected. When you sit in them, they recline you back a bit, but you can easily 'glide' the seat back into an upright position if you'd like. Every seat seemed like it had a great view of the stage!
'Little Shop of Horror' left me absolutely speechless! De'Vin Lewis, TerJuana Brooks, and Erin Thompson played the 'street urchins' and their opening act literally gave me goosebumps! The entirety of the play was captivating, hilarious, and riveting. I cannot wait to see other...
Read moreThis theater has absolute terrible customer service. I will never return here to watch a production. My mom and I bought tickets last year to the Christmas production. We arrived 7 minutes late. The couple who arrived right before us were allowed to go in and sit down, no fuss. I, on the other hand, was told I was too late and if we wanted to watch the performance we would have to down grade to back row seats and that is if any were available. The box office manager spoke down to me with attitude and was not understanding at all. She was just plain rude. I have emailed the theater and left two voicemails complaining about how we were treated by her. I never received a response or apology. They, of course, continue to email me wanting me to buy tickets to their latest performance. NO THANK YOU!!! We will NEVER...
Read moreReally nice, older theater. You really feel like you are living history. CLUE: The Musical was well performed and engaging. (I would have liked a little more time with the lights on to mark my game sheet.)
The concession had a good selection at very affordable price points. (I suggest they start providing drinks in resealable bottles instead of cans to preserve the beautiful wood floors. I didn't even open my can as I was afraid of spilling it as my hands were busy with the game sheet throughout the play.) The chocolate sold in the concession (Rick's) was wonderful.
The restroom was very clean. All the workers were friendly, helpful, and patient.
We traveled 90 minutes from the Tulsa area and determined we would definitely return in the future. We're thinking for the production of A Territorial...
