Our visit to “Licorice Man!” was among the highlights of our visit to Guthrie, OK! Owner/operators Rick & Cherie proved to be terrific ambassadors for Guthrie, as well as the nuances of the incredible selection of candies that they sell. When we walked in the door, Rick immediately greeted us and oriented us to the fun and unique candy culture of their store - complimentary bottled water, and free samples of any candy you’d like to try, from Coconut Curry or Pickle flavored saltwater taffy, to the Sirius Chocolate Licorice treats. Rick and Cherie know everything there is to know about licorice, and carry brands that hail from Australia, Holland, Finland, and all over the world. For those who aren’t particular fans of licorice (what’s wrong with you?? 😂) rest assured that this is way more than a licorice-only candy store. They have something for everyone!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Licorice Man candy store in Guthrie! It is owned by two of the sweetest people I have ever met. They generously encouraged us to try as many free samples as we wanted, and he does the same with the neighborhood kids. I loved the positive vibe in this little shop. You can buy phenomenal candy in this store, but you can also learn a lesson about life here too. Rick and Sheree love to share their love of Guthrie with all who enter. I never knew there were so many varieties of licorice and taffy, and he has them all! He even has a little known premium candy bar called Mountain Bar that may be better than Reese’s Cup! If you are in Guthrie, don’t miss a visit to this little candy store. You will leave with a new outlook on life!

What a great little find!! The shop owners are so kind and also share information about other shops downtown that people might be interested in. You can try pieces of candy for free. My son and I tried the pickle flavors saltwater Taffy, and it honestly tasted like a dill pickle. There are so many different flavors of saltwater taffy that it's hard to choose. If you haven't had the pleasure of this sweet shop, you should make time to stop by and check it out. I bought some candy that I hadn't seen since I was in grade school. And there adult chocolate would make a great gift. We definitely will be going back!!

Absolutely a great place to visit! This little candy store has something for everyone. The owners are truly delightful and are as sweet as they candy they sell. The store has taffy, gummies, licorice, and candies of all sorts from all around the world. The owner (my apologies for forgetting his name) likes licorice. Licorice has its own special place in the stores main display. I personally do not like licorice (or so I thought), but the store owner changed my mind. He let me sample some of the carmel covered licorice. Let me tell you, that piece of candy changed my mind about licorice forever. This little candy store not only satisfies your sweet tooth, but satisfies your soul. The owners are so personable and friendly, you feel like you could stay all day a chit chat about absolutely anything. I am glad I stopped by this rare gem of a store in the middle of Guthrie, USA. The candy was not only delicious, but unique. If you don't have a sweet tooth, then you should at least stop in and say hello to the owners. The owners alone make the experience worth while. I plan on making a trip back to Guthrie, OK real soon, not only for the candy, but for the owners...

We stumbled into Licorice Man while exploring a small town during my son’s birthday party drop-off—and what a delicious surprise! This place is like stepping into a candy-coated memory lane 🍬

The owner is the kindest man, full of warmth and nostalgia. He gives free samples to the kids (cue major mom points 💕) and genuinely cares about making people smile. I mentioned a couple of retro candies from my childhood—sparkly cherry Laffy Taffy and watermelon with edible seeds—and he wrote them down and said he’d try to track them down. WHO DOES THAT?! A candy saint, that’s who.

He even stocks seasonal favorites like candy corn and Valentine SweetTarts all year long, just because he knows people crave them past the holidays. This isn’t just a candy shop—it’s a place full of joy, memories, and the kind of personal connection you don’t find often anymore.

We will definitely be back and probably leave with an even bigger...

Amazing place and the nicest people running it. I saw some reviews saying basically the owners were only nice to a certain group of people. My wife is obviously not caucasian and they treated her just as nicely as they did me. We make special trips from OKC to Guthrie solely to go to this place and stock up. If you like licorice, REAL LICORICE, this is the place to go. They have such a variety and they will let you sample whatever you want with no pressure to buy. The last time we were there the gentleman there offered me a licorice that I had not even inquired about and then told me he just wanted me to see what it was like to eat $40 per pound licorice (it's $10 for a 4 oz bag and he just gave me one for free to try!). They also have tons of other types of candy but I go for the licorice. And just based on my experiences at this store, if you did not have a pleasant visit then maybe it's you that is...
