We had a great brunch at this authentic Mexican kosher café. They have many options to choose from. We ordered from the Mexican Dishes menu; The quesadilla, chilaquiles, tamales, and corn elote were all fresh and flavorful. Dessert was tres leches cake and berry tamale (gone before I had a chance to take a picture!) — both very delicious. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent. You really can’t find food like this anywhere else. 5 stars for taste, service, and presentation. It is located on the Fairleigh Dickinson University Campus in Hackensack, NJ Blue Star Cafe

This is a hidden gem in Hackensack! The atmosphere is light & airy with real thick cloth napkins and tablecloths. The food is authentic Mexican and delicious!! I had a Salty Pretzel milkshake which was yummy and different. Great place off the beaten path near Teaneck & Bergenfield for a breakfast or lunch.

They have talked a lot about this place throughout New Jersey, the food tasted very delicious and I decided to come and try the food they sell in this establishment and the truth is, the best food in the county, the place has a very good atmosphere, good service

My wife and I went here for breakfast and it was a very interesting experience.

The menu is somewhat confused for my liking, with a full selection of classic, kosher-dairy options like bagels and paninis, while also offering a large selection of Mexican dishes, and poke bowls! We also were given no water while we were there, and the wait for the food was longer than expected given that the restaurant was rather empty.

With that said, it was overall a good experience! The space is homey and comfortable. The food was very fresh and made with high quality ingredients. The Mexican dishes that we tried seemed to be as authentic as can be found in a kosher establishment which we appreciated.

I think Blue star is a refreshing change from the typical dairy Cafe, muddled menu...

What a wonderful find! My wife and I have been looking for a good dairy restaurant - with choices! - in the Teaneck area. Blue Star is just 10 mins away, in Hackensack (and maybe they'll move to Teaneck!)

My kids have been eating at Blue Star since it opened last month and they - and their kids - love it. The regular dairy fare - eggs, omelets, salads, etc are all fresh and delicious with many variations to your liking.

But for us, the Mexican dishes are what we came for. Varieties of Taco's, Burritos, bean soups, quesadillas, tamales, and more.

There's also a nice variety of espresso, and the desserts (although only a few) are very good as well.

We highly...

BlueStar Café & Catering. You’ve disappointed us. We came here a few weeks ago and service was amazing. We walked in at 1:50 today. There was no one here. It took the person who took our order 20 minutes just to put it into the computer. It’s 3:00 and we have only gotten a couple of items. The staff is walking around on there phones looking bored. The Jewish guy who’s here says it’s his second day and they didn’t train him. Again, there is no one here!!!! They kept blaming it on people being here before a big order etc. This is not service! This is unprofessional and disappointing! We won’t be coming back...
