China Garden — Restaurant in Hackettstown

I've been going to China Garden for years and it's been years since I've been there again until today!!! For this area it's nice to have somewhere you can order from years later and it still holds up. ALTHOUGH I have always gotten the same thing every time. BBQ spare ribs with Sweet and sour Chicken. (Mainly because I don't like to deep fry at my place and BBQ spare ribs always have such a unique taste.) The rice and sweet and sour sauce basically, EVERYTHING gives off that EXPECTED TASTE you would want to go with. COMPARED to a 5 STAR restaurant...NO. But, it tasted as I expected it to. That's why China Garden gets a 5 STAR from me. ( Well today there was more small pieces of chicken then large and the Spare ribs could have been a bit hotter with more sauce but, how Picky can one get tho!!! The chicken was right On.) The Lady was so nice through phone and in person. The packaging as you can see was well, secured with even a cardboard slip at the BOTTOM!!! AWH!!! As for their other food that's up for you to decide. I try to be simple when it comes to eating out so if your expecting a 5 STAR meal...go-to a 5 STAR restaurant....

I’m so sad with how China Garden has been lately, as a regular. I noticed over the past few months that they’ve started to skimp on food. Which, I understood due to inflation- would’ve preferred if they started to charge a few extra bucks instead, but whatever. So, I started to stop going weekly, and went last night after a few months. I was a little surprised at how many shrimp there were this time, but they were all pure white (usually they’re bright pink) they smelt fine, but tasted VERY off. Now this morning I definitely have food poisoning as I can’t even keep water down without getting sick. I understand things happen, but it’s just carelessness at this point.

Please get back into how you were before. You were the best Chinese food in town, and I live several towns over. Meaning I drive 40 minutes specifically for your food, passing several Chinese places including the others in town. I used to order $30-40 every week, and was happy to do so, now it’s going to go elsewhere. I hope eventually you go back to your old...

Unfortunately I had to give one star to give a review but if I could I would give none. My family and I ordered from them a few times over the years because they delivered to where we live and I can honestly say the only good food we have ever received was the fried pork dumplings. Every other time we ordered from them, everyone got sick and the final time we ordered from them, there were little WORMS in our rice and some in the lomein my boyfriend ordered!!! We called them and they said they would send new items but we were afraid there would be more bugs in the replacements so we just threw it all away and went over to hunan wok and the food was perfect from there and NO BUGS! I’ve had other family and friends tell me that they have found little worms, raw chicken, and some mold in their food and have even gotten food poisoning from china garden!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!
