Not a good experience for the first time there.
The waitstaff seemed nice but horrible service. My wife and I went there with a birthday discount coupon for me which consisted of a free entree. We were the first customers there for the evening so we were seated quickly. The first fill up of water was barely cool with no ice- the pitcher had obviously not been refreshed recently and the water had been sitting for some time. Our food was brought out relatively quickly, which was not bad- however salty and we placed our empty glasses at the edge of the table for approximately 10-15 minutes after we started eating. Once our waiter asked if everything is ok, we didn't see him again except for his back at the wait-station chatting with the others. After the aforementioned lengthy wait, our waiter came to ask if everything is ok again- at which point I mentioned our empty glasses at the edge of the table, in which he replied "oh yeah, sorry" and proceeded to retrieve the pitcher to fill them. At the end of the meal when another waiter came to us I had asked for my remaining portion to be wrapped to go and for the check, to which I got a "yeah" as he walked away with the plate. No " absolutely, Sir, let me go get your waiter for you", or " is there anything else I can help you with or get for you"...nothing. When our waiter brought us the check I noticed the entree was included. This was due to the fact that he never came by to ask us if there was anything else we wanted or to get the coupon from us. There was some confusion with the check which we questioned, at which point, someone that I can only assume was the manager because there was no introduction, came over to us to explain the price question, then just walked away without making sure we were satisfied or clarification or thanks or anything. So overall the waiter was a nice guy but the service was terrible. Will NOT...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. First off I ordered the Takoyaki. The octopus comes frozen but I thought I’d give it a try anyway. It comes with 6 very small pieces, and the pieces of octopus were so tiny they were almost none existent. The batter was mushy and tasteless. I ordered 3 different types of rolls. The seaweed was so chewy I couldn’t even eat it and has to spit it out. The rice was mushy and rolled out so thin that there were a lot of spots with missing rice. None of my rolls were cold. Very underwhelming. My husband ordered chicken yakitori and shishito. Extremely overpriced for the portion given. All of the food was over-salted probably trying to compensate for poor quality. We ordered the fried green tea ice cream hoping that surely they wouldn’t mess that up, and considering that it was listed for $6 thought it must be good. We ordered it hoping that maybe we’d get one decent thing out of this meal. The outside fried shell was mushy and the ice cream was so hard/frozen we could not cut it with a spoon. We sent it back. The entire experience was really disappointing and we will not be returning. I’m leaving this review because when I read the reviews they were generally good so I wanted to give this place a try- I don’t want anyone else to...
Read moreGreat new place! They really nailed the taste of several staple sushi rolls. I love their rainbow roll and dragon roll. I'm not much of a fan of spicy food but they have plenty of spicy options for those who enjoy it. They have a great atmosphere as well - they even run some child friendly videos such as Mr. Bean cartoons and some video game playthroughs from YouTube which I think is brilliant to keep younger children entertained.
The only tiny quirk worth mentioning is I think they're still figuring out their computer sales system. They ended up charging me five cents extra versus the original bill that came out (not a big deal at all) and the receipt came with incorrect tip percentage recommendations (stated that a 20% tip was ~$14.50 when 20% would have really been around $13.20.
Quirks can definitely be forgiven in my opinion. I hope that this place succeeds and...
