About 10 years ago, on a wonderful NYE, i was staying at an adorable air bnb in Brooklyn. This was a grand time, aside from when my professional camera was stolen from my apartment, but I was there to see the band Phish, which made it all okay. I digress. Around the corner from our spot, there was this classic lil New York pizza shop. Doing as I do, late night pizza was in order. I was flabbergasted by the caliber of the pie I ravenously engaged with that evening. At the time, I had naïvely declared that it was most notably the best pizza I’d ever had and would ever have. For many years I grieved those perfectly crispy and cheesy slices that I had gotten to know & enjoy all those years ago. I lamented that upon my next trip back to Brooklyn, the air bnb listing was not able to be found, as that was the only surviving clue for me to find my way back to the gods of all pizza gods. And then, one day, my life changed. Brooklyn Pizza — OUR NJ neighborhood friends of Brooklyn Pizza — moved into town. Please know that the owners of Brooklyn Pizza are NOT the same as the mysteriously named pizza shop I’ll never find again. How do I know? Because THIS PIZZA is BETTER! I don’t know if many of us recognize just how lucky we are to have Brooklyn Pizza - THIS Brooklyn Pizza. So many in this country will never get to know what a real pizza tastes like, because you can only make it how NJ & NY makes it…well…here on the East coast! I hope we thank the pizza Lords each day for how blessed we are. I mean, we did always have access to somewhat above average pizza in our area beforehand, which I appreciated back then. But now…NOW that Brooklyn Pizza moved in a few years back, they totally changed the game. Sometimes I cry when I get that overwhelming craving, only to see that it’s Monday and they’re closed. They ruined pizza anywhere else around here because I realized that I was selling myself short and accepting food that was well below my self worth. I’m sorry folx, but I am no pleb. I’d rather go hungry on a Monday, or ditch my plan for pizza than settle. These guys raised my standards that I cannot and will not go back to slightly above average pizza, you see. I hope that you remember your worth today, and refuse to settle for anything less than pizza luxury, too. You deserve it. Now that story time is over ~ here’s the review on the actual food 🍕 THIS Brooklyn Pizza is the absolute best pizza of my life. When you call to order, I promise you the entire transaction will be the fastest phone call you make in your life. They are efficient, swift and get down to business. They are ALWAYS consistent with their cooking times, quality, service and food. I’ve NEVER had a subpar pizza, or anything from them for that matter. The pizza is “Well done but NEVER burnt.” The way the Pizza Lords always intended. They actually slice the slices all the way through, because who the hell has time to be cutting it the other 1/4 of the way when I’m just trying to eat!? There is also a special twist that you they add, with the Sicilian culture that I adore so much. The salads and dressings are always fresh, they have my favorite cannolis in all the land, and I don’t know where they source your ingredients from but they’re in another league entirely than these broke a$$ joke a$$ other pizza places, in terms of everything ~ quality, dank ingredients & a care for the actual CRAFT of food. They care about what they do, and that to me is everything. Sometimes, I’ll be driving en route to my home with no plans of getting pizza, sometimes not even being hungry, when my brain subconsciously processes the visual cues of their brick and mortar, right there, staring at me. At times I forget who I am and where I was going. My eyes gloss over and the next thing I know, I’m back in my car, gleefully eating a hot slice, right from the oven. Order the pizza. Get the dessert pie. Eat at your own risk, though & Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

So I was born in Brooklyn but moved to NJ when I was a kid. I literally eat pizza at least 3× a week for as long as I can recall and have been to likw 100+ pizza joints in NJ. A friend from work told me about Brooklyn Original Pizzeria so of course I had to check it out. 1st time there I got the signature "Brooklyn" square pie and ate a slice while driving home..ended up eating 3 slices by the time I got home lol Straight up hands down the best pizza I have ever had in all my years in South Jersey 💯 It's the "Real Deal Holyfield" and only pizza I've had that is similar to authentic NY style pizza. Dave Portnoy, the so called pizza expert from Boston, has nothing on me when it comes to judging what good pizza tastes like 🫡 I've tried many of their other items and everything is top notch 🤌 my only slight complaint are the prices but I don't mind paying a little more for the best of the best..10/10 🥇

An hour drive totally worth it. If you are in the area and you're looking for classic Brooklyn style Square pie, check this place out. I ordered a half drunk grandma and cacio e pepe Brooklyn Square and a traditional round half Pepperoni. The customer service was on another level. The entire crew was super friendly and engaging. I told the woman behind the counter that it was my first time and I drove from PA and she gave me a rundown of all of their pizzas and offered me a slice of the original Brooklyn Square on the house. Absolutely delicious, was my favorite slice of all. The crust is delicious and crispy, the flavors were amazing and fresh. I would absolutely recommend to anyone. Additional note, the entire place smelled like fresh basil and fresh bread.

It was nice to call a place and speak with a person while ordering food. I was able to get some recommendations of what to order. The young lady told me to try the Sicilian. I got it half cheese and half pepperoni. I ordered for pick up, so she gave me an order # to reference for pick up. I walk into the place and see the owner having a seat. He was super friendly. The place was ran by his family. It was awesome to watch everyone working together. I took my pizza home, and to be honest a large Sicilian (square) is too large for two. The pizza was still hot from my 6 min drive to my house. It was delicious. I wondered why it took my so long to eat here. Thank goodness for the internet. Please review with care. This is a family business.

Ordered a “take and bake” square pie - Half Brooklyn and Half Honeymoon. They partially cook the pie crust and provide a foil baking dish - all I had to do was throw it in the oven (400 degrees for 15 mins). The cooking time varied based on my oven but it came out great with a few extra minutes in the oven as I prefer a more well done cook. Also would recommend taking the basil out before baking so it doesn’t burn.
