Lula's Empanadas — Restaurant in Haddon Heights

Lula’s Empanadas has THE best empanadas in Haddon Heights, probably the entire state of New Jersey. We found out about Lula’s from Fox29’s Bob Kelly, and so for my dad’s birthday we decided to come through and check it out. We had no trouble finding parking in the back, and sat down at the comfortable picnic benches. The menu looked so good that we just HAD to get one of each! The empanadas have a generous amount of filling, and their names are tastefully stamped on the outside, so you’ll never not know what you’re eating. My personal favorites were the buffalo chicken and the chorizo, and they also come with a spicy-but-not-too-spicy chipotle aioli sauce and a delicious salsa verde. If savory isn’t your thing, they have dessert empanadas as well - the blueberry and goat cheese empanada was as unique as it was tasty!

Today I tried the Thai sweet chili chicken , the butter chicken , and guava fig and Brie empanadas. First the dough is perfect thin light and crispy! The Thai sweet chili chicken is a delicious combination of flavors you got to try. I also really enjoyed the fig , guava and Brie empanada. It was a great sweet treat to end my little empanada sampler I put together . But the star of the show for me was the butter chicken empanada. It was absolutely delicious. A incredible combination of savory flavors that makes you just want another one . Glad I decided to stop by today and will definitely be back especially when the weather is a little nicer for the outside seating . Can’t wait to try the chorizo and cheesesteak...

OMG! I am addicted. The 1st time I went, I was very skeptical about which 1 to try, so i got 1 of each. They are done perfectly....not too hard and not done enough. Full, but not over stuffed. When I looked at the menu, I figured cheesesteak would be good, hard to mess that up, but this was better than good. The cheese and scallion was unpredictable good, the teriyaki was a very good surprise (vegetarian option), brie, fig and guava yummy! They recently added sauces....hot ketchup! The young lady that owns it, is so nice and told me the story of her Mom, Lula. All the best...
