We were able to score a parking spot right out front and luckily had some quarters to feed the meter before we fed ourselves, but there was a app to pay by credit card as well, most of the customers headed out the back door when they were done, so we think there some some more parking in the back, unsure if it was free or not. We sat at the bar thinking we would get a little faster service, but that really wasn't the case. My first beer was served in a smaller glass, 10 or 12 oz, but the menu said it was a 16 oz pour. I didn't mind this too much since the beer wasn't that great, especially for $8. It was a local/craft beer, but still expensive. We had the queso dip, fish taco's, and the shrimp po-boy. All the food was excellent. The queso had something extra about it that really made it delicious, although the tortilla chips were on the stale side, we still finished the dip. I really liked the fish taco's as well, cooked perfectly and the sauce they put on it had an excellent flavor. The shrimp po-boy was equally as good, and had the same sauce. We did notice the neighborhood we drove through to arrive and leave were a little on the sketchy side, and one of the regulars at the bar was talking about a buddy that was mugged not to long ago. Although we aren't familiar enough with the area to know where that was, it made us feel glad we were there in the middle of the day. I think we would think twice about stopping in too late. Overall the food was fantastic, the atmosphere in the restaurant was great, service could have been better, but I didn't care too much about this as it seems everyone is short...
Read moreFirst visit here. Barsy vibe, actually more bar than restaurant by appearance but a very chill laid back atmosphere. A pretty diverse sandwich menu with prices that are probably a little lower than average. I had the Midwest Pork Tenderloin sandwich. It was HUGE! The piece of pork was twice the size of the bun. It's served on a toasted Kaiser roll and loaded with dill pickles and nothing else. There are the regular condiments available for you to add according to your preference. The pork tenderloin itself was deep fried and covered in a very crunchy corneal breading. Eating a bite of the pork alone that was hanging off the bun, it tasted like it needed a bit of salt, and I almost never add salt to anything. But once I tasted the sandwich together with the pile of dill pickles on it, the flavor was great and I didn't think it needed anything. The pickles in the sandwich seemed to provide the saltiness that the pork alone lacked. The pork was of good quality and tasted great. I was a little disappointed in the fresh cut fries. They tasted good and were cooked well, but it looked like they must have come from the bottom of the bag as they were all pretty small nubs rather than normal length French fries. The service was good, although it took a while for the food to come out, especially considering it was lunch time and you tend to not have a lot of time to hang around. Overall, I was impressed. A different kind of sandwich that you can't get just anywhere. Well prepared and tasty. A huge portion at a good price. I will go back and try...
Read moreWhere do I start? First off, the atmosphere. Walking in from the dreary streets of Hagerstown, was immediately impressive. It felt cozy, and like a nice place to hang out. Secondly, the staff. Super friendly, AND engaging. That's key to keeping customers. Next, the food. I am not even exaggerating when I say, hands down the best burger I've had from a restaurant. I've had my fair share of burgers, best I've personally tasted. Cheers to the chef, for making an adjustment to my hangover burger! Pricing was fair, which was surprising considering how great the food was. I left there, so completely stuffed and satisfied. The items I tried were the hangover burger, the crab nachos, and the fried pickles. All of these were incredible. I'd have pictures, but we dug in and barely came back up for breath until we were done! The only thing that alone people might find as a negative is, we did wait a hot minute for the food. But I personally, didn't mind waiting. The food was completely worth that wait, and I'd do it again. Already recommended Broad Axe to 3...
