I was so exited to try out this place and was hoping to have a new favorite Puerto Rican restaurant close to home. When we arrived, it was just before dinner and the restaurant was dead silent, no music and no other customers. We were seated by a very young lady who seemed shy, but polite. The table she seated us at was a two top (as if they were concerned we would be taking up too much space). The young lady ended up being our waitress as well. She never asked if we wanted to order any drinks and were just given water. We barely had time to look at the menu throughly and she seemed to be in a hurry to take our order. The food took a very long time to come out considering we were the only ones in the restaurant, our appetizer arrived only a minute or two before the food.
We never ate more than three or four minutes at the most, undisturbed. We barely got halfway through our food and the waitress asked if we wanted the check. I had planned for us to have dessert as we were celebrating my daughter's birthday. We skipped dessert since we were being rushed. We continued to eat and she came back within two or three minutes asking for us to "pay now". I didn't even have my wallet out yet as we were still trying to finish the other half of our meal. The entire time we were seated there was a young guy who kept doing laps around the restaurant literally every two minutes and hovering nearby us. After we paid, everyone suddenly disappeared and we never even received a thank you for coming in. I made the connection that they must have been concerned that we would leave without paying.
The empanadillas were good and the sauce had a nice flavor. The mofongo was very dry and did not taste like platinos. It reminded me of boxed stuffing and there was next to no sauce on it. The arroz con gandules was terrible. It tasted like it came from a box as well and just had gandules and ham added to it.
The food was a bit pricey considering the location and the portions were not very generous. Our entire dining experience felt very rushed and uncomfortable. I drove all the way from Montgomery County for one of the biggest dining disappointments I've had...
Read moreI was super excited to go to the restaurant's grand opening as my wife is Puerto Rican and I love food from PR as well. Our overall experience was quite bad. On their website they list a lot of dishes yet many of them are not offered at all. Food takes very long to come out (45 minutes for appetizer) and is way overpriced for the size and quality of the food. Further, the font used on the menu is way too small. We had Empanadillas as a starter. You receive 3, which are barely filled with beef and cheese- cost $13. My wife ordered Mofongo, which is one of her favorite dishes, yet she could not eat it as the shrimp were rubbery - you could barely cut them. No dressing came with the salad and when we asked for vinaigrette, we received a side of pineapple juice. I had the Churrasco which tasted good yet was lukewarm and kind of small for $28. Additionally, I think on a grand opening night you want to really showcase what you got. Nobody came to chat, ask if we enjoyed the food, or offer anything complimentary to try- I don't want nothing free but I think on grand opening it would be a nice gesture to establish relationships with new customers. Positives included the personality of the bartender who served our food as well as the ambiance. Overall, it was a really poor experience and, at this point, I would definitely ask people to stay away unless management really turns...
Read moreFirst off I would like to say that I have ate Puerto Rican Cuisine on the Island of Puerto Rico and this food was terrible. The service was terrible not only was me and my party not greeted after walking through the door a whole 20 minutes and sitting waiting when we were finally able to sit down the server took over 20 minutes to get us 3 cups of water with lemon. The food took over 45 minutes and that was for 1 of the entrees for ONE PERSON in my party had to wait another 25 minutes for YELLOW RICE AND GANDULES. 2 orders of Bacalaitos were completely over cook 1 order of Beef empanadas were over cooked on the outside NOT COOKED ON THE INSIDE 1 order of Alcapurrias BURNT on the outside NOT COOKED ON THE INSIDE. ALSO ALL THIS FOOD WAS COOK IN OLD OVER USED OIL. Also the order of Mofongo was very dry and we asked for regular Mofongo they brought out mofongo with PORK and we stated we are Muslim. Not only that, they also added 22$ of food we didn’t eat or order. I do not recommend this place it actually needs to be shut down the service was very crappy and the food was TERRIBLE for spending almost 100$ on trash that was thrown in the trash I am very disappointed especially being Puerto Rican myself this is an...
