We gave Fajita Grande a last chance tonight and will not be returning. The food is good so we keep giving it another chance but the service is horrible. We arrived this evening around 5 pm and were one of few tables. The waitress was very frazzled and never asked our drink order. We ordered our meal and drinks at the same time and waited a very long time to receive the drinks. At this point another table was seated behind us with a different wait staff and they had already received their drinks. After ordering we were told our food would be out in 15-20 minutes - we thought great because we had a 2 year old with us. 48 minutes later our daughter became too antsy to remain at the table without any food. They came out and told us they were waiting on the kids cheese dip to be made - weird but okay. We continued to wait and watched the two tables around us that arrived way after us already eating their food. My husband took our daughter to the car because she was too antsy to sit anymore. I asked another waiter to find our waitress. She did not come over quickly and when she did she seemed shocked to find me irritated. I asked for our food to be packaged to go and for the check. There was no apology. I continued to wait - there was no rush or effort to try to fix the issue. A guy came over that I assume was the manager and all he said was kabobs take a long time. I said they don't take 45+ minutes and he said yes I agree. Never apologized. The bill came and they offered no discount other than the coupon I arrived with. I continued to wait after paying my bill for my food to be finished. It was an hour from the time that I arrived that I left with two dinners and a kids cheese dip. It wasn't until I was walking out that the waitress finally apologized for the delay but at that point it was too late. The food is good but the service is poor. We had another experience months ago when they were slow but not this slow. During the same previous trip we noticed that the waiter had rung up an extra tip for himself. We had put down cash for our tip and wrote "cash" in the tip line but the waiter rang up an additional tip on the credit slip. Thankfully I had taken my copy of the receipt and was able to prove the mistake. The manager was not very apologetic and acted like this was not the first time he had heard this complaint. We...
Read moreThis is without a doubt the BEST Mexican restaurant in the vicinity of Hagerstown, Maryland. The truth told, I'm getting old and I've eaten at many a' Mexican place through the years. This is as good as I can ever remember...absolutely delicious! You can tell they use fresh ingredients and the cooks know just how to use them.
We ordered the Chicken Street Tacos, and let me tell you, they were fantastic! First of all, I must say that the staff are super friendly and were quite accommodating to our special dietary needs. They will likely remember us when they read this.
We first called a "rival" of their's to check on the ingredients in certain items, and the person who answered was just not up to the task. So we decided to search for another place.
I wouldn't say we were troublesome, but admittedly we had more special requests than average, I would guess. But the very pleasant young lady who answered certainly didn't seem to mind our questions. And when we ate the food, it was prepared exactly as expected.
AND -- it was truly sensational! The street tacos are amazing -- chicken so juicy and flavorful, with their special queso sauce and homemade salsa. We added sour cream, which also was particularly fresh...and voila! Delicious!
The rice & beans were light and fluffy; just very well prepared. We also ordered a side salad with the "Sweet and Sour" dressing. Listen to me: if you like salad, or even just salad dressings, you owe it to yourself to try that dressing...I am considering how to duplicate it myself in my own kitchen. It is a unique flavor worth experiencing.
This was our first visit of many to come. We will never try that other place, perhaps because of a poorly handled phone call which has led us to the best new place we've eaten in years. The atmosphere is authentic and fun as well. This is now "our" place; I...
Read moreWe have live in the Hagerstown area for about 3 years and have driven by this place many times. We (the better-half and I) finally decided to check it out this past Sunday.
We have a "go-to" spot when we are in Baltimore visiting family/friends and that place is amazing, so we went in with high standards. Honestly, we were not disappointed.
Atmosphere: Was your typical décor and music, nothing you wouldn't expect. The seating was fairly standard. The only minor issue, and it is extremely minor, is the seating arrangement. Some tables were set up with half-bench and half-chair seating. While this is not a huge issue, I can see it bother some others.
Staff: Was extremely friendly and polite. While we did have to wait a few minutes for our waitress to take our initial orders, through observation we discovered that it appeared that the waitress's were also busing the tables in their sections. This would explain our waitress's delay.
Food: While the food was different from our usually spot, it was in no way bad. The salsa was chucker than we are used to but had a strong lime flavor which we both really enjoyed. We ordered the Sampler appetizer to get a good mix of foods. The better-half got the Fajita Burrito while I got the Carne Asada. The portions are much bigger than we expected (per the photos attached). We had to take a good portion home.
The one special note I will make about this place is our waitress asking if we were ok with everything that came in the food during our initial ordered of each dish. The fact that the waitress made sure we liked everything in our dish was a nice surprise as traditional Mexican dishes have A LOT of ingredients in them and some customers can be picky eaters.
We will be adding this location to our list of 'go-to' spots...
