Maryland Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Haines City

CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!!! Have passed this place a few times and finally had an opportunity to stop in to grab some chicken to take home in Lake Wales (approx. 35 min away). Ordered 12 pc fried w/6 rolls. Couldn't wait to get home and eat it. Opened box, counted 9 pcs of chicken -- 2 legs, 2 breast and 5 thighs, was told there should be 3 pcs of each. Called for resolution and they told me they put 12 pcs of chicken in the box, i told them again that they did not. They said had to bring chicken back to give me a refund or to make it right. I explained that I live 35 minutes away, could they not just refund my CC? No they can't. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me she was the one in charge and that was all she could do. Crappy customer service. They should have been able to refund my card, at the very least for 3 pieces of chicken that I didn't receive but that was not offered either. I would have been happy had they at least said they would take my name so I could stop in next time I'm in the area and they would make it right. I told the lady that I would just write about my experience on google and she said have a good day and hung up. BAD...

I decided to try this place after living in the area for a long time. I hear people rave about it. I was confused before entering the restaurant. Was this fried chicken or chinese take-out? I looked over the menu and decided to get a piece of chicken and a chinese combo plate. I had to ask the cashier three times before she realized I wanted to pay with a credit card. Cashier told me I had to wait 15 min because everything was prepared fresh. Thinking I was getting a deal with the price & the fresh food I was glad to wait. The decor in this place scared me a bit. Thought it was a cross between a sorry chinese restaurant and someone's home kitchen. After 22 min I got my order and went home. When I opened my chicken It was a decent sized portion but soon realized their was nothing special about it. It had zero seasoning on it & the skin was soggy. I moved on to my combo plate and was sorely dissapointed I ordered shrimp with garlic sauce with shrimp fried rice. I had the tiniest serving of greasy fried rice that had no shrimp in it. I don't know what these other folks are talking about, but my fiance and I stopped by here this afternoon. We are from Maryland, so the sign caught our eye. Fried Chicken Was Juicy on the inside crispy skin on the outside just like you would go and get at somebody's Grandma's house back home. They have crinkle cut french fries, also really delicious. Just make sure you open the box if you are doing take out so the food doesn't get too sweaty. Not that you couldn't dine in but not a ton of room, but we did takeout anyhow. Also got some shrimp fried rice and wonton soup. Fried rice was really good and I like how they put sha cha sauce on the shrimp I've never had that done before but it was a nice touch and they put a lot more vegetables in the fried rice which I personally appreciated. Of course I wish they gave you a few more wontons but that's how most places are these days and the broth was actually really flavorful and that's the big tell for me. They also make the crunchy noodles for the soup in house and they were really good! Most places just do the little packets of ones u get from the grocery store.
