Zocalo Fish Market & Grill — Restaurant in Haines City

My husband and I had mixed feelings. So let's start with the grill. The service was good. The employees smiled, polite and attentive. We ordered a calamari appetizer that was over cooked, chewy, the garlic sauce was very poor and the chillies sauce tasted like duck sauce. I would not recommend that item. We also order the hush puppies my husband enjoyed. We also ordered the fish and chips that was really good, but the coleslaw had too much mayo. As we were eating I watched the table next to us pull plastic from what looked like a frozen food back out of her seafood Molcajete. The plastic piece was about 1"x .25". Not sure if I would try the grill again.

We then headed over to the fish market. I was immediately surprised to see veggie options along with a few other items to make a full meal I am originally from up North and the fish markets didn't carry those additional items. The prices we thought were reasonable and they had a variety of fish options. I had been looking at different markets for adult octopus for weeks and this was the only place I could find it. The place overall looked clean. The service was average.I would go back to the market. If I could give separate reviews the market would have...

WHEN I ORDER MY COCKTAIL I ASKED FOR A COCKTAIL WITH SHRIMP OYSTER OCTOPUS I GOT JUST A SHRIMP 🦐 COCKTAIL THE GIRL AT THE REGISTER TOLD ME THATS WHAT I WAS GETTING YOU WILL SEE MY PICTURE IT WAS JUST A COCKTAIL!! Shrimp $19.99 ok 👍 I DIDN’T get That!!

ALSO THE PLACE IT WAS A PACKED HOUSE JUST THINK 🤔 FIFA WORLD CUP CROWD IT WAS BANANAS 🍌!!

THERE WAS NO ORDER IN THE RESTAURANT THE PLACE ITS TOO SMALL FOR THE CROWD THEY NEED MORE SPACE !!!

THEY ALSO A FISH MARKET IN THE SAME BUILDING GREAT SEAFOOD SELECTION!! Great PRICE$$$ !!!

IT WAS NOT MY IDEA ON MOTHERS DAY WEEKEND ITS THE WORST!!

But we did it was 12 of US ALSO MY FAMILY THERES ORDERS GIT ALL MIX UP THE PRIMO GOT THE TIAS FOOD THE MOTHER GIT HER SON ORDER WELL YOU GET IT THEY DONT KNOW PIVIT POINTS THEY AUCTION FOOD...

I was able to get a platter of 12 Chucked Oysters but they were very small and not worth the price. Plus they gave me hot sauce not cocktail sauce and small pieces limes not lemons. But just one large Leg of King Crab was not that good and salty and stringy for the $39.00 I paid for it. Also tried the lobster bisque soup on the other side of the market through the door and the small pieces of lobster were not good like rubber and not worth the Ten dollar price for the small cup of soup. They had a King fish meal which seemed over priced at about $17.00 that did not look worth that price which I did not buy.

Also earlier about a month before I asked them to put on the side for me to pick up just a few hours later a platter of 12 Chucked Oysters but to be on the safe side I called just before I was going to pick it up and they said it was gone and I could not get it! EVEN Another time even though I asked them to put it aside for me to pick up when I got there they did not know about it but they had one to give me again...
