I bookmarked so many Vietnamese restaurants in Haltom City to try whenever I'm in the area, and I'm so glad I finally had time to visit one. My Lan was the top one on my list for com tam after seeing so many positive reviews and delicious photos.
The parking lot was pretty bumpy with a few potholes, but that's a sign I'm about to eat some authentic Vietnamese food (similar to Garland). There wasn't much on the outside, it was just a restaurant in a long strip with the name at the top. My sister and I came around 1 PM and it was pretty empty. There were 3 tables at the time so we got seated right away. The restaurant was clean, with multiple booths on both sides and some tables in the center-- definitely enough to serve big groups of people. The server was fast and gave us the water and menu right away, and he kept coming back to check if we were ready to order.
Since it was my first time, and they had some dishes that I never see at other places, I took my time. We ordered egg rolls, cafe sua da, com tam, and banh hoi, and omg, they came out SO fast. I seriously thought they just had the egg rolls lying around on the counter and brought it over. The egg rolls were CRISPY, and hot, and they came with veggies on the side to wrap. That was a big point for me because other Vietnamese restaurants just give you two egg rolls with fish sauce and call it good. My Lan actually gave me veggies to wrap my egg rolls in, along with really good Vietnamese fish sauce.
The food came out after 10 mins, which gave us time to finish half of our egg rolls. The portions are pretty big and my banh hoi has so much meat to rice noodle ratio. I was so impressed with the portion, but the taste was 11/10. I love the chao tom, thit nuong, and cha gio I got with my banh hoi. Wrapping it with some lettuce wrap and mint made it a delicious meal. Each dish was around $12 which is fairly decent compared to other restaurants charging $15+. I'll definitely be back if I'm in...
Read moreBeen there many times over a couple decades. I only ever eat lad na there and it always tastes the same every time. By same I mean very good. The only place I go to get lad na.
i usually do not eat pho when i go out, but decided to eat it here. i must say it is bang for your buck if you consider the quantity and quality vs what you will get from places nearby. i am not a pho expert but the quantity alone surpasses the other places. Yea, gonna add pho to my other choice at this location. While the broth isn't as great as some other places, it is good enough but the quantity of noodles in my bowl is well worth it.
just an f.y.i. to some go'ers, service has never been a strong point of asian restaurants. my only advice, be decisive of what you want and do not expect 5 star service. you'll get good food though. at least the lad na and pho. not really a fan of other vietnamese dishes. When my friend goes to Mylan with his fiance who is Vietnamese, he says she doesn't like going to the one in Haltom but instead to the one in Colleyville which is a further drive because according to her the service is better there. Just an FYI. I am not in a rush when I go so service is not big a deal for me at this location.
Edit: July 23 3023. So after decades their ladna has gone down a star. Maybe to 3.5 stars now. It just doesn't taste the same anymore or have the same ingredients. I'll give them one more chance to redeem themselves then I'll go check out their...
Read moreDo not ask questions about the menu. The staff is very petty. I was asking what came in a drink because I didn’t know what it was called and instead of telling just gave me the name of the drink. I had asked for a Thai tea with jelly, and the brought me the wrong drink and got very defensive when I asked if it was a Thai tea like I ordered and then proceeded to gaslight me say didn’t order a Thai tea and order whatever she brought me. The waitress was obviously mad when she realized she messed up and when she corrected my drink she purposely put it in a defective cup. Normally the staff there isn’t bad it’s more mediocre they only stop by the table to take your order and bring food and that’s about it. Maybe she was having a bad day but the restaurant wasn’t that busy to begin with. The food is good but if you have any allergies I suggest bringing your epi pen. Not the best with following allergies will pick it off then re-severe it. Other than that the food is...
