Barbara's Restaurant — Restaurant in Hamden

Are used to go there a few years ago, and it’s a cheaper version of the Three Brothers diner that is a few blocks over.

There is a really good waitstaff, but one day I decided not to go there anymore because there was a waitress being very rude; slamming all the items that she was handling and talking about how much she hated her job. I’ve worked at jobs where I was not treated right, but you still have to be a professional, and use your energy to get a better job, not have a drama in front of people.

The food is low quality and it’s one of those things where they don’t change equipment, so a spatula will touch eggs, raw meat and vegetables at the same time. Also they will make sandwiches and cutting boards where raw meat has touched it.

I do like the free coffee and it definitely feels very homey. They do have really good hours and good prices for the quality of food.

Usually they’re very quick, except on Sundays. One time I waited an hour and a half for my food, but when I was about to walk out the door they just sped through just so I wouldn’t walk out on my meal.

The food is a little overpriced. One of the women that works there barely speaks English. Had to repeat my order to her three times. And sometimes she gets it wrong after I repeated it three times. The cook never prepares my food the way I asked. And they seem to be more in a rush to make your food and get you out the door. And the quality of the food could be better. They could use better ingredients. They definitely buy the cheapest stuff that they can to...

This was our first visit here. We usually have breakfast at a different place, but our regular joint is closed for vacation. We will definitely be back to Barbara's. Friendly, quick, plus coffee is included! Good hours, 5:30 am to 2:30 pm every day. My steak and eggs was done very well, but now I know to make sure to ask for the French fries to be a bit more well done. Other than that, we enjoyed breakfast here and are looking forward to...
