As a brand-new customer, I was looking forward to trying Naz’s Halal for the first time. Upon signing up through their app, I received a BOGO rice platter offer — a great promotion, or so I thought. I placed an online order for one mixed chicken and beef/lamb platter and one chicken platter, totaling $12.78 with tax, after applying the promotion.
Shortly after placing my order and heading to their Hamilton Township (Rt. 33) location, I received a phone call from the restaurant. The employee informed me that they could not fulfill my order and advised me to cancel it. When I asked for a reason, I was met with a vague explanation: “We’re having a problem in the store and are unable to make you any food.” I asked how I should cancel the app order, and the employee admitted he didn’t know — stating, “I just work here.”
I explained that I was already on my way and would prefer to get a refund in person. His response was dismissive: “Okay, you can come get your $11,” followed by abruptly hanging up. The rudeness was surprising and unprofessional.
Upon arriving at the store minutes later, I was told again that they could not fulfill any orders due to unspecified “problems.” The employee handed me $12.75 in cash. I expressed my disappointment, noting that this was an especially poor impression for a first-time customer. I also mentioned that I regularly dine at Halal Guys and wanted to give Naz’s Halal a try for comparison.
I brought up the fact that I lost my promotional BOGO platter offer, asking if there was any way to reinstate it. After calling (or appearing to call) the owner, the employee returned less than 10 minutes later with my original order.
Naturally, I asked how they were suddenly able to make the food. I was given a series of implausible excuses — from “computer problems” causing no-shows, to the credit card machine being down for in-store orders. Neither explanation applied to my situation, as my order was prepaid online and I had confirmed over the phone that I was on my way.
This leads me to suspect they simply did not want to honor the BOGO deal. The timing of events was too coincidental: at first, they “couldn’t” make my food, but after I expressed my dissatisfaction, it appeared without issue.
Unfortunately, the poor customer service was not the only disappointment. The mixed platter contained very little beef/lamb and was missing pita bread entirely. The chicken platter was more complete, but overall, the quality was unremarkable.
While the food itself was edible, it was nothing exceptional — and certainly not worth enduring the dismissiveness, unprofessionalism, and questionable business practices I experienced. Halal Guys offers better food, far superior customer service, and a more trustworthy dining experience.
For anyone considering Naz’s Halal, I strongly recommend you save yourself the frustration and go to Halal Guys on...
Read moreI always order online because it's easier for me while at work. This means that my order is presented exactly how i want it. I always request the sauce on the side because they put too much on it otherwise. The food is excellent and low prices. But they literally don't gaf what you order, they just do what they want. 50% of the time they are putting sauce on so it's just a full layer of white sauce on top covering every inch and I have to wait for them to remake it without the sauce when i pick it up. Then i never get the sauce I actually want on the side. They either don't give me any at all, or the sauce I request on my order is completely ignored. So they are fine with giving everyone way too much white sauce that it drowns everything out, but if you want it on the side, or if you want green sauce specifically, they act like it's made of precious gold and refuse to give any at all. It was the old guy that got me into the green sauce to begin with and now I can't get one at all. I hate that this is happening because otherwise, they're great and the food is great, but i'm tipping $5 on a $12 order to be treated like my meal doesn't matter? I used to order once a week and sometimes more often than that, but now it's been months since I've been there and the same thing happened today. Not worth the aggravation anymore. Now i'll sit here picking at this dry a** food that isn't what i ordered regretting tipping...
