Baskin-Robbins — Restaurant in Hammond

OVERALL, I give them a 4 out of 5 Stars, with 1 Star removed, because the Waffle Cone that I got on the side was pretty stale. Not crunchy as it should be, but sort of bendy. Yes, bendy is the best or I guess, only way to describe it.

After a totally Shaft day, a little indulgence in some Ice Cream hit the spot! I got a few scoops (not telling!😂) in a pint or was it quart container? with a waffle cone on the side for $9.84usd. The Server asked if she could go ahead and fill the container for me, so I agreed. Guess that was better than my just doing a 3-4 scoop order, as I probably got more her way than the way I made my request. I’m also pretty sure that I would have still paid the same amount.

This Baskin Robbins is somewhat small, but typically kept quite clean. I’ve visited multiple times throughout the years. The Service Staff have always been Friendly and Welcoming, and Thankfully COVID has not changed that aspect.

They do have COVID Policies in place, with Service Staff wearing Masks, Spots on the Floor to indicate proper spacing, a plastic splash guard between the Customers and Cashier, etc.

Baskin Robins may be “Old School”, but the thing about them and their being “old school”, is that You can expect and You actually get, consistency. Their ice cream is consistently good. They have standard flavors, but also, offer one or two new, unique, and/or interesting flavors. Today, I noticed they had a Mango-something-or-other.. it looked like a Mango Flavor Fruit Smoothie, and it looked like it was topped off possibly by some Chili. Not my cup of tea, but I know in many Hispanic and South American Countries Sugar Sweet with a little bit of Hot Red Pepper or Chili flakes is a common and popular way to serve their sweets.

This Baskin Robbins is located in a Corner Window Store facing the Main St. It has plenty of parking as it is located in a small and relatively old one store shopping plaza. Because of its location, this shopping plaza gets plenty of both foot and vehicle traffic constantly. Also, no matter what retail stores are located within the Plaza through the years, the Retail Merchants have always been well known brands, so it is easy to do some much needed shopping and then pop into Baskin Robbins and grab an ice cream cone, before...

There were two male employees in this store when we arrived around about 2140 ish on Sunday, July 12, 2020. The bigger guy with the hat and the pink BR t-shirt was refilling the cooler in prep for the next and was visibly irritated. While ordering, we quickly realized why. The smaller curly haired guy in the white WWII museum t-shirt seemed genuinely incompetent. We had to repeat ourselves several times as to what we wanted. Also he was bent over into the freezer case, with NO hair net on, and neither males were wearing gloves. When we politely asked if they were supposed to be wearing gloves, they both said no. Also the curly haired male did not have his masked pulled all the was up his face, his nose was sticking out. At the end of our visit, the curly haired male took our payment and threw out our receipt without ever even asking if we wanted it, which we did. It then took the two of them several minutes to figure out how to reprint one, apparently they are not trained on how to do so BEFORE being set loose to work on their own. Overall the curly haired male was absolutely OBNOXIOUS and OBLIVIOUS, I would be very happy if I never saw him there again. As for the big male, he was very nice and polite, he seemed to know what he was doing, and I didn't worry about whether he actually had a brain or not. Me and my mother went in at around 8:30 for some milkshakes as it was 30 minutes before closing. We saw a young girl in front of us get turned away but we figured they just didn’t have something. I simply ordered a medium chocolate milkshake and get told “I’m out”. The young boy in a southeastern shirt just said he served his last two or whatever. In my opinion they cleaned the blenders early and just didn’t wanna clean them again despite it not being closing time. I was sick and just wanted a milkshake, but no couldn’t have that because the workers tonight just seemed lazy, unhappy, and quiet. Especially when we walked in, but the girl working seemed nice.
