Trying Hot Pot at Mikado on the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Yes, fully aware we need to try KPOT, their wait is just so long. So don’t do what we did here and you’ll probably have a great time, and take advantage of those sauces. Also, if you haven’t had their sushi or hibachi, highly recommend. Maybe we’ll try the Korean barbecue next? #c#centralpam#mechanicsburgpac#carlislepikeh#hotpotm#mikadom#miso

Everything was good except for my drink and the crazy attitude i just caught from the “bartender”. I ordered a tequila sunrise and it tastes like straight coconut. I had a few sips until i got to the point where i was like this is weird tasting. Told the server I didn’t like it, he said he would cancel it. The bartender comes up and says “I didn’t put anything that doesn’t belong in there. You can’t just drink it and then say you didn’t like it.” When there’s just a couple sips taken out of it. He was super rude. First time in here and it was for my boyfriend’s birthday and the bartender was here for about a minute and ruined the entire thing for us just because of his attitude. Told me i gotta pay for it when there’s over 50% of it left. You guys have your bartender that was working tonight around 5:00 on 5/25 to thank for the bad review here and on yelp. I again had a great experience until the very end when I interacted with him. He was so argumentative saying “your server checked on you right? Why you didn’t say anything then? For that, no refund.” Like what type of customer service is that? I’m a server and I would never use that logic or that attitude with a paying customer. If I ever return, I hope he’s not working because I dread the idea of having to interact with this man again. Genuinely. Made me so upset.

Possibly Japanese food but not great quality or atmosphere. When I have to ask and wait 10 minutes for chopsticks tells me it’s not authentic. Then they charge you $6 for a small pot of bland CHINESE tea. Japanese restaurants give FREE Japanese green tea. Obviously the owners have not eaten at a Japanese restaurant before. Since there was a long wait for the hibachi side, we chose to dine in restaurant side. The service was horrible since we saw our server several times because the food came out at different times. My wife was almost finished with her udon BEFORE I got PART of my dinner. The tempura shrimp was over cooked as well as the steak. The fried rice had a lot of hard kernels as if the rice sat outside overnight before it was cooked as fried rice! The place was so disorganized that I had to wait ten minutes for my sushi after it was made because the sushi chef didn’t know which table it was made for. We were sitting next to sushi bar so he could have given it to us if he knew it was for me. Sadly it’s the only Japanese restaurant near me. Next time I’ll drive further and hopefully have a better experience there.

It was a cold and chilly January when we decided to take my wife to dinner at Mikado's for her birthday. Upon arriving, we quickly scurried across the parking lot. At first I questioned the frosted covered door. What grand adventure have I gotten myself into? I wore jeans and a hoodie. Could I be underdressed? I couldn't bear to wait any longer. Grasping the handle I gently pulled back the door.

To my surprise I found myself in a magical fairyland foyer. I had become lost in a mystical Gulliver like experience. There was an amazing intricate wishing well located in the corner. Water was flowing through the many levels creating a soothing sensational sound that seemed to permeate both my mind and body. I reached into my trousers and grabbed a fist full of change and a small trace of lint. I quickly deposited this material into the well. I would share my wish; however, it is widely known that shared wishes would greatly diminish the likelihood of the wish becoming true.

In an instant, I departed this room and was welcomed in a large open waiting area. Here I found the Valentine's day decorations to be extremely tacky. It was as if my children's elementary school art class was forged with creating horrible paper decorations for this fine dining establishment. Luckily our hibachi grill table was ready, and the torture of tolerating the hanging paper hearts had passed.

We were seated and offered menus and cocktails. The open floor design allowed the entertainment from the other tables to be viewed by all. Hibachi chefs slicing, dicing, and talking their way through meal preparation is a thing of beauty. Come with an empty stomach and open mouth. Experience the thrill of trying to catch flying food tossed towards your face.

My family loved the food, atmosphere, and overall experience.  Filet is so tender it almost melts in your mouth. The vegetables are fresh and most enjoyable. I would recommend a visit to this fine byob...
