Hampden Centre — Local services in Hampden Township

Good Stores such as Karns Subway And the restaurant wish I could remember the name oh and the movie theater is pretty good too. Ive heard some pretty mixed feelings about both the diner and the bank located next to each other at both entrances. Me personally I've never been in the diner it seems alright on the outside but you don't judge a book by it's cover and as far as the bank goes in the past I was with friends that went there and the service was a little.. how do I put this... Depressing.. but most of the women the last time I was there were pretty helpful and friendly. Always get good service at both the other restaurants Karns has great food deceant prices good service. The theater has okay to deceant service but that was a couple years ago never went back since. I just didn't like the fact that everyone seemed like they're only in there 20's and they all seemed extremely down n depressed which made the service kinda ehhh like they did good they were quick n all but idk ide imagine it's better now I always see a lot of cars there and it's pretty clean around the building. Have yet to go the vape shop hear very mixed feelings about there too. I hear the prices are kinda high but they also have good brands of juice there so that kidnapped goes hand in hand. I've dealt with the rent a center before and they good overall. The GoodWill isnt to bad that's deceant went in once maybe twice just to see what it's like inside everyone was friendly and nice. Never went to the gym but it looks pretty good from the outside through the windows seems like they have a lot of equipment for such a small space to work with but I see a good amount of people go there too so ide imagine it's a deceant gym. I've been told it's not to bad there just kinda smaller than other ones around and someone once told me the prices were high but I can't say for sure if that's the case but equipment looks up to date from what I've seen spacious. The dollar store is pretty good too actually service was good got balloons for a kid in the hospital the last time I went in and that was around the time they alwere about to close and they were cool with filling up and tieing up new balloons besides what they already had. The prices are good obviously haha pretty good selection though! One of my favorite dollar stores been going there for over 10 years. The other restaurant that I'm pretty sure is Italian and is called Palumbos I'm very sorry if I spelled it wrong has pretty good service the guy that always answered the phone was pretty cool. Always nice but you could tell was a business man me myself I appreciate that especially when dealing with food and having them deliver it too you. I live about 20 minutes away and theyre always pretty quick foods always good! I only ever had a problem once but that was half my fault address got changed and half the driver he left the food sit on the hood of the car when he pulled the car around. But that was a long time ago he no longer works there and so far the last few times I ordered food from there they delivered it in a timely manor they were always good people driving bringing the food to the door. Oh and I almsot always give them a pretty good tip because of how good the service is overall with this restaurant and because they are 1 of 4 that will still deliver to where I live at. They will deliver here before Pizza hut will. They cut the line off 2 miles down the road from my nieghborhood but these guys are 3 times the distance away and they get here quicker and with better pizza in all honesty and you can get burgers and everything else too?!?! Why not go the great option and pay a little more and give a great tip for overall greatness.. Anyways there is a couple other stores in there that I have yet to go in I honestly can't remember what they are.. I apologise to these businesses but I don't go down there enough and or also didn't have a need or interest in going in. Atleast not yet if I do though I will be sure to come back and let everyone know what...

Hampden Centre is your average neighborhood shopping center, with an anchoring grocery store (Karns) and several restaurants and smaller stores, including a movie theater. I’ll try to only comment on the stores I’ve been to, but be aware there are more stores to visit here:

Karns and Dollar Tree are always clean and mostly well-stocked. The new sushi at Karn’s is delicious and fresh. This Dollar Tree is one of the smaller stores of their franchise, but is still clean, well-managed, and very dependable!

Goodwill is a decent thrift store, but their prices have gone up as of late. Edited to add: Goodwill has recently added 50% colored tag sales on Mon-Wed at this store- I’ll be shopping here more often!

Five Guys and Rita’s (open only in spring-summer months) are both clean and have good food options, although their menus are a little pricey for what you get.

I’ve only been Palumbo’s Pizza twice. The pizza was pretty good, but we waited 15 minutes to order our food because there were only two employees working. I think they could have done a better job of dividing service and food prep, even with limited staffing. Great job on the actual pizza, though!

I haven’t visited the movie theater since 2019, so I can’t speak to how it is now, but it was clean and well-managed when I used to visit. Not sure how pandemic regulations have affected it now, but prices for tickets and concessions are comparable.

Overall Rating: The foods pretty good, but obvious they maximize capacity over comfort. They could use a redesign.

Atmosphere: Crowded, loud, and an open floor design. which sounds great until you have a few dozen people scuffle past your table while your trying to eat.

Quality: The food quality is good and they had a few options I was not expecting, such as having hibachi made for you on the grill. That being said, they also seem to be cutting back of meat based dishes with the expectation of people filling up on starchy foods.

Service: If you decide to pay first be prepared to have to run someone down for a refill. This could be negated by the providing their servers with a proper wage.

Overall Impression: Good food and plenty of it. Just hope your a people person, the temptation to throw elbows is...
