Kritunga Indian Cuisine and Banquet — Restaurant in Hampden Township

1/15/2023 - Pongal special lunch!!! We went to Kritunga yesterday for the special meal on banana leaves with a lot of excitement, I can say it is WOW EXPERIENCE and Kritunga has put in lot of efforts to hold that excitement till end of the meal with the varieties that been served on banana leaf one after another. Food is amazingly fresh and tasty. My personal favorites are Purnalu, garelu, puri and chakrapongali 😊.There is a wait time at the beginning of the meal, but it is worth wait of experience being thousand miles away from home on a festive day. Staff are very polite despite of too many requests from us and food is served with right temperature. Recommended if living in this area for awesome food.. ——————————————————— Best Indian Buffett!!! We went to Kritunga on 10/29/22 for Lunch buffet. Very nice and tasty Indian buffet I had in recent times. Place is crowded in short period and seems everyone loved the food like us. There are more than 30 items served and my personal stand outs are Cut Mirchi, Baby corn Manchurian, Chicken Tandoori Kabab, Goat Pulao, Butter Chicken, Butter Paneer, Shahi Tukda, Bendi masala. Chicken Tandoori Kabab is so juicy, well marinated, very tender and tasty on every bite!!! Food is served at right temperature and fresh all the time. Lemonade made with freshly squeezed lemons is my other favorite. Staff are friendly and service is excellent. Best Indian buffet in Mechanicsburg/Harrisburg area in recent times with large varieties of delicious items in an authentic Indian taste and right balance of Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian dishes!! Overall very much satisfied with food/service and deserve 5 star.....

It’s our second visit to Kritunga. First time we really liked the food. However, this time it was a complete disappointment.

We ordered a goat dum biriyani, chana masala (chickpea gravy) with naan. If I talk about the goat dum biriyani then I would say neither the taste nor the quantity of the goat pieces did justice to the price they are selling it for. It’s almost 18 dollars and people do not order biriyani just to eat rice. But hey, I would have agreed to the serving and the price if there were quality goat meat served in the biriyani meaning if the meat was tender and juicy. But it wasn’t. They may serve quality meat on other days but I didn’t get that on that particular occasion.

Coming to the chana masala, honestly, this was a lot worse. From a restaurant like Kritunga, I just didn’t expect it. The raw smell of the chickpeas was there. The smell is supposed to be suppressed by the spices. This is the main thing in indian cuisine. You hide the raw smell by using spices. Overall it was not a pleasing visit that day.

I am giving it a three star since I have some sort of a biased view towards Kritunga. Because I had their food before and they were good. Probably, on that particular occasion , on that day, it didn’t serve up to our expectation. However, the service and the atmosphere...

After a long and tiring workout session yesterday, I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kritunga restaurant, and it was a fantastic experience.

The food at Kritunga was beyond delicious. I tried multiple items on their menu, including the Mutton Biryani, Mutton Paiya, and Haleem, and every dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The Mutton Biryani was fragrant and had tender pieces of mutton that melted in my mouth, while the Mutton Paiya had a rich and spicy broth that was addictive. The Haleem, a traditional dish, was a delightful surprise with its unique blend of spices and flavors that left me craving more.

Aside from the exceptional food, I was impressed with the friendly and attentive service from the staff. Despite being close friends with the owners, I was treated with the same level of professionalism and cared as any other guest. The restaurant's ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for relaxing with friends or family.

Overall, my experience at Kritunga was outstanding, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. The flavors, service, and atmosphere combined make it a memorable dining experience. I will be returning for more of their scrumptious dishes...
