My family and I have been to your establishment on several occasions, and with every visit I am astonished at the praise your restaurant gets. First off, the service is lacking and glaringly so. Our waitress was rude and slow to respond to requests and couldn't even get a simple drink order correct. I never knew it was so difficult to make a plain ice water with lemon and once the water was served without I had to ask several times to get just a single lemon wedge and the same when the water was replenished. Second, the food and presentation was substandard and delivery long in the waiting. I ordered your twin lobsters and they came to me warm; they should have been steaming hot. Next, your seafood platter was ordered and I've never seen such poor presentation and served on a plate so small that it was made to look like it was heaping - IT WASN'T. When you cram even a scant amount of fried foods on a plate like that they become a soggy mess. Just plain terrible ! Cole slaw served in small paper souffle cups doesn't wash either (you are not the Weathervane or Newick‘s). What happened to monkey dishes ? For the prices you charge I would have expected that at the very least. Napkins, I've never seen such cheap paper napkins that came apart after a couple uses. I come from a Greek restaurant family too. We owned a highly patronized 130 seat eatery in Concord for a quarter century that people still talk about today. It included a variety of sandwiches, char broiled selections, seafood, pastas, etc. Our philosophy was consistency and deliciously fresh made food at great prices and stellar service. A busy restaurant helps the previous immensely. For a Monday night, your restaurant was anything but busy and your wait staff should have been able to handle their parties. If they're having a bad day, they should either ask for light duty or call in sick... PERIOD !!! I can't give any kudos to the kitchen staff either and shame on your kitchen’s quality control manager. If the waitstaff can't handle orders then an expediter should assist them. Such a disappointment and especially after the bill was received which rubbed salt in the already festering wound. Not a pleasant experience whatsoever. Also, having been in the restaurant business, my mother left a healthy tip to the waitress despite all of the negative from above. This was supposed to be a nice anniversary dinner for my sister and her husband and it was not.

As one Greek family to yours, I would suggest you take these criticisms constructively. We hope/expect to hear...

I found the Galley Hatch online when searching for a place to meet friends. One of the 4 of us has celiac’s and I was impressed with the gluten free options and reviews. This restaurant was also centrally located between our home towns, which made it appealing as well. I made a reservation using open table. I noted about celiac. The day of our reservation, I messaged again as a reminder and they quickly replied. That was also comforting as my friend is always concerned about cross contamination with her gluten free allergy. We arrived about 20 min early and there was no room at the bar so we waited at a high top near the hostess station. They had a bakery case, gift shop and coffee bar in this area as well. We were seated in a booth in the Toppan’s Corner. We order our drinks and they were served promptly. The wine list wasn’t huge but had a decent selection. For starters we ordered the feta dip (gluten free), clam chowder (gluten free) and soup of the day was turkey. Feta dip was delicious!! It came with pita chips (not GF) but we asked for those on a separate plate and we were offered addition celery and carrot sticks. I was told the chowder and soups were good but not HOT. The pita chips that were cooked were good but some were soggy and not able to hold the dip, chopped tomatoes or olive tapenade. We were also offered a bread basket with rolls and corn bread. They only had a gluten free popover. I liked the corn bread and the wheat roll. The butter was ice cold in the little square cups. Personally, I prefer soft butter for dinner rolls and breads. Entrees- 3 orders of steak tips (medium) with mashed potato , swordfish with the Gallic herb butter and a baked potato (gf meal) and a veal parm. My tips were well done rather than medium. The flavor was good, mashed potatoes were yummy. My guests said their food wasn’t super hot, but warm and the sword fish was mushy in one area then dry in another. The veal entree wasn’t really commented on. Overall, we all agreed we would go back and try other items. I’ll definitely order the feta dip again. We followed up with our dinner with a round of espresso martini’s in the bar. It was busy and a nice atmosphere. As we left, the hostess offers to get us anything from the bakery case. My friends took 6 gluten free cupcakes and a couple slices of another dessert to go. All in all, I do recommend trying the Galley Hatch. The place was busy so it’s well know in the area and I’m sure many menu items are more popular than others. I think they might be best at...

For many years, my wife and I have always agreed our go to restaurant and favorite was The Galley Hatch in Hampton. I must admit, after tonight, it is not for me anymore. For many years, We would visit at least 1 to 2 times per month. Until covid19. Then we did the Take out option. In the last 5 months, Currently March of 2022. Service has really gone down. So Tonight, My wifes' salmon, Was so dark, That I could have passed it for a hockey puck. My Stir fry came with lo mien.. Where it went? I have no clue. I would say that the person taking the call in orders, probably didn't write down the lo mien, cause she was trying to get off the phone with me, So fast that I didn't have a chance to pay with my card. She was asking if there was anything else i wanted after I ordered the first item a appetizer. Lucky for me, I had everything written down, and was able to read each item to her pretty fast. I felt if I didn't tell her she would hang up on me by the way she was Rushing me as if I was on her time. Then I pulled up tonight, (first time paying cash, And I was informed they do not allow curbside if you pay cash.. Well I would have used my card if your worker stayed on the phone long enough. Literally she gave me my total and hung up before I could tell her my card number, never asked cash or card. Just total and then click.) I do not know what has changed with the Galley Hatch, Different management??? But this has become a study pattern over the last six months. I left 2 stars instead of a single star. Cause I do have hope they can turn this around. Tonight was bad. My wife is now on her way to a different restaurant to get something else to eat tonight. I lost my hunger. I would share the other last few visits. But its not worth the effort or time Hopefully...

I grew up going to the Galley Hatch on family vacations almost every summer and had the restaurant been as bad then as it was this weekend, then I am sure my parents would have opted for somewhere else. I had good memories of great seafood, but either management has changed or they just don't care anymore, because this was an outright disappointment. To start, we were looking for seafood and were presented brunch menus with very limited seafood options. We debated on whether to leave and after 10 minutes, since no server had even come to the table, we were getting up when finally someone decided to stop by. Well, we should have left, but we sat back down and ordered drinks. Already disappointed, but hungry, we opted to forego the seafood and just order something quick. My wife ordered the mezze plate, which was hummus, carrots, celery, olives and pita. I ordered a lamb burger with fries. The pictures show what she was served and it should have been an embarrassment to the kitchen to send it out. The celery was dried out and old, and had started to turn brown, the carrots were old, the hummus was a small, flavorless portion, the pita was toasted too much, and there were no olives. My burger was dry with no flavor, the tzaziki sauce was watery, and the feta was a white clump that was very unappetizing. Yes, we went for seafood and ordered other items, but food quality and service should be no different regardless of what you order. Would I return to try the seafood? Absolutely not! This is the New England coast and good, quality seafood restaurants are plentiful. First impressions remain first impressions. Go anywhere in the area but here to eat.
