Laura's Rise & Shine — Restaurant in Hampton

Today was the first time I’ve been to this restaurant. When I walked in no one greeted me or said anything, a lady just stared at me. It wasn’t until the next customers came in and sat down that I realized you just seat yourself! Would’ve been nice if somebody had said “you can sit anywhere.“ The waitress was quick and efficient. She took my drink order and then brought my coffee right back, but there were no creamers. She had to go to another table to get creamer’s as I waited. She took my order fairly quickly and the food surprisingly came out just as quickly. Actually The food is the reason I feel my rating is more like 2 1/2 stars. The one thing that did impress me is: the food was hot and freshly cooked. a big plus for me. However there were no utensils. Seriously! I had to use the spoon for my coffee because once the waitress delivered my food she never came back. Never refilled my coffee, never checked to see if everything was OK of IF I NEEDED A FORK OR KNIFE! In fact I had to watch another customer for a Cue how to pay because she didn’t even bring me the check. you just go to the counter they find your check and cash you out. I waited for her to bring me a check she never did thankfully somebody else left so I could see what they did. So, the food was good it was hot it was tasty and the portions were fine and that’s the great part of the restaurant. But the service is terrible. Here’s what a lot of independent businesses forget: customers have the spending power to go to any restaurant. Once I set foot in the door you earn my business as a repeat customer which is what I feel you would want as an independent business person. This restaurant is tucked away (you have to go into the shopping center to find it) so; I would be doing everything I could to make sure customers continuously come back. They don’t here! Because the food was good I would’ve gone back but because the service was deplorable I wont return. After I left I honestly felt like they didn’t care if I came back because someone else would walk through the door and that’s all...

2.5 stars. We all ordered scrambled eggs but all were actually fried eggs cooked hard (they had the brown stuff on them). Scrambled eggs should be yellow… from mixing them ours was not mixed. Ordered a kids meal which came with OJ but we didn't get any OJ. Biggest thing was they are CASH ONLY… but don't tell you that over the phone when you place an order. Thank goodness I had emergency money in the car. The waitress was nice and the atmosphere seemed pleasant... but the eggs were very disappointing. Pancakes tasted more like a waffle batter (they are HUGE) and a bit gummy for my taste (but it should be noted that I am not a huge pancake person - I prefer waffles). I like food and was excited that we could order meals for everyone at the house and everyone could get what they wanted...veggie omelette, bacon, ham, sausage, pancakes, etc. Having been a short order, cook before I am impressed that the food was prepared so quickly...but it appears that's because the stove was on HIGH hence the fried eggs. Overall, the food was okay...just dissapointed by the fried eggs... We would have ordered fried if that was what we wanted. If you are use to Texas style country fried steak skip this one. The captains sandwich was good. Be sure you have CASH cause they don't take...

I hadn't been in years due to moving from the area, and five years later I'm back in town. I was invited to go and I was starving and looking forward to it. I drove up and Was hoping that wasn't the cook sitting out front the door smoking. I'm sorry ,you might be from buckroe.... but find another place other than put front your business. We four sat down and Was greeted by a very nice server.. I orededd water and It tasted funny,, like old rusty pipes... the lemon juice they gave me couldn't even hide the taste.. yuck. Also the ketchup bottles ,salt and pepper shakers were nasty ,greasy, the place is dirty PERIOD.. THEY were Taking bottles of ketchup while we were eating and Consolidating them right in front of me... I hope they wiped all those bottles off... didn't see them do it.. I love ketchup on my hash browns ,,,but after seeing there method I didn't want that nasty old ketchup. The food was alright,. The soda machine was broken down.. wth,, step your game up and clean the place. I won't be back to dirty for me to eat in.. little soap and Water goes along way... even clorox.
