Went to the new restaurant, Convo, on Saturday night, 11/18. I almost didn’t even make it in to the restaurant with my experience outside the restaurant. First I pulled up to the front door. There were 3 spaces there with no “no parking signs” posted. When I get out of my car a guy comes running from across the street and tells me these spaces are for valet parking. Annoyed, I got back in the car and proceeded to park across the street at the grocery store. I then get approached by a different guy, talking about it’s $10 to park in the lot. Damn, really!? I don’t know what they are thinking, but we are not in midtown, downtown, or buckhead. Why is there valet? Why is there paid parking? It’s Hapeville, come on man! I ended up parking across from the funeral home. I almost just left. I walked passed the outdoor seating area and thought it might be nice out here with these fancy heaters, but I’m not a fan of hookah and that type of place/crowd. Everyone out there was doing hookah. Once inside, I sat at the bar. I ordered 3 appetizers, the $12 egg rolls, the $14 chimichurri wings, and the $18 steak kabobs. You get 4 egg rolls the size of my thumb (maybe 2-2 1/2 inches). Very small is the point I’m trying to convey. For what you get, the price should easily be half what they are charging or gives double the portion. This ends my negative experience. That’s a lot. The wings were so very tasty. The spice, was perfect. The steak kabobs and the potatoes that come with it, so good! Those could be an entree. I went back on the following Monday in the afternoon to see if valet and paid parking was going to be an all the time thing or just capitalism at its best on high volume times. But they were closed. They don’t seem to be open for lunch. This was my experience. That’s all.
Let me explain the stars: 4 stars on the good. The food tasted pretty amazing actually. The egg rolls portion was the most disappointing thing. 4 stars on service. I was greater upon entry and directed to the bar since I was alone. The ladies at the bar were nice enough. The food took a bit long to come out. It appeared that many wait staff were off, but still hanging out with the still working wait staff. I just think I my food was ready somewhere and sitting because of their hang out session. 3 stars on Atmosphere: I think the space looks great inside. I liked the TVs on sports, specifically college football. The place looks to have some high end interior design going on. Demerits on the hookah element of...
Read moreI recently visited Convo Restaurant and Lounge on Saturday, March 16, 2024, for a night out with my sister, and I must say, it was an absolutely stellar experience from start to finish!
Firstly, let's talk about the little touches that truly set this establishment apart. The complimentary valet service was a godsend, and the attendant's warm greeting set the tone for the evening. His assurance that we were in for a treat was spot on, and boy, did Convo deliver!
One thing that immediately caught my attention was the commitment to quality evident in every aspect of the experience. From the moment we stepped through the door, I was impressed to see that everything, from the drinks to the dining ware, was top-notch. It's a small detail, but being served in glasses rather than plastic cups elevated the experience for me, and I appreciated the attention to detail.
Speaking of drinks, the recommendations from our delightful waitstaff were spot on! Each sip was a delight, and I particularly enjoyed trying out some of their unique concoctions. And let's not forget the hookah—I indulged, albeit at a slightly higher price point than I'm used to, but the smooth flavors made it worth every penny.
Now, onto the main event—the food. Oh my goodness, where do I even begin? The stuffed salmon plate was an absolute revelation. The salmon was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor with every bite. And let's not forget about the unsung hero of the evening—the Brussels sprouts. Trust me when I say, they stole the show! I would return to Convo for those Brussels sprouts alone.
But what truly sets Convo apart is the exceptional service. From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable experience. Our manager, in particular, impressed us with their genuine interest in our feedback, even graciously accepting our constructive criticism regarding the collard greens. While they were good, as a Southerner, I have high expectations for collard greens, and I appreciate that they took our feedback seriously.
In conclusion, Convo Restaurant and Lounge exceeded my expectations in every way possible. I'm already planning my next visit, and I'll be sure to take the manager's recommendation to swing by during their Friday happy hour. Trust me, if you're looking for a dining experience that combines impeccable service, delectable food, and a vibrant atmosphere, look no further than Convo. It's a five-star gem in the...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but my recent visit to Convo Lounge was so frustrating that I feel compelled to share.
From the moment we arrived, the service was noticeably slow despite being a slow night with not many people there . We ordered drinks that didn’t arrive until after 20-30 mins. The waitress gave us shots of house liquor to accommodate. I ordered the pasta, wasn’t told until 15 minutes later that the were out of the pasta. So ordered the salmon. When our food arrived, my pate was noticeably cold make matters worse, our waitress waited until after we ordered to inform us that the kitchen had closed at 10pm—something that should’ve been communicated upfront, since she was aware this was our first time visiting the establishment.
When the tab arrived, the total was $63. I paid and left a $7 tip, bringing the total to $70. A notification from my Apple Wallet confirmed this amount. However, the next day, I checked my bank account and was shocked to see the charge had ballooned to $179. Apparently, the system registered a $100 tip—something I absolutely did not authorize.
I contacted the restaurant immediately. They claimed their records showed a $63 tip, which made no sense. I then reached out to CashApp, who confirmed the charge was initially $70 and later updated to $179, reflecting a $100 tip. After multiple calls and follow-ups, I finally spoke with the manager, who assured me I’d be refunded the $63 tip discrepancy. But despite these promises, I’ve had to initiate every single contact. No one has followed up with me proactively.
This experience was not only disappointing in terms of food and service—it also left me feeling misled and financially taken advantage of. I hope this review serves as a caution to others. If you choose to dine here, double-check your receipts and monitor your...
