BEWARE! The drinks we received were not up to the standard that they normally are when we come. We asked if they could remake it or allow us to get a different drink. They said that they don't do refunds on food or drinks and pointed out that it was noted on the menu. Of course we did not see this, but we weren't asking for the money. The manager on duty, Brandon, advised that they also don't do exchanges. He finally offered us half off, mind you we did not take more than a sip of the drink, and they had already thrown the drink away. They wanted us to pay half for a drink that we didn't even drink or have anymore! After going back and forth about customer service he finally remade the drink at our request at no additional charge. The issue is the customer service, whether it is on the menu or not the owner should want to satisfy their customers. I've brought huge groups of co workers several times and we have left paying a tab over $1K. You would think they would empower their employees to use discretion so that they could keep a long time paying customer rather than losing 3 over 2 $12 drinks. What got me was the fact that he kept repeating the policy that was on the menu as if that was supposed to mean something. Whether or not it was there, they still served a bad drink and did not want to willingly make it right. So if you go here KNOW that if you order food or drinks and they make it right in their eyes if you don't like it you still have to pay with no offer to fix it. I'm so glad it was the drink and not my food. They will not get another chance to fail me and still expect to get paid. I'm sure they will respond with an excuse as that was all Brandon had to offer us tonight. Go to Thai Haven 2 blocks away where they value every customer and will not let you leave dissatisfied. They are a mom and pop just like this place. Brandon said that this is a mom and pop and this is why they have this policy....a policy that says they are always right and the...
Read moreI went there on a Thursday night at 5:45 and had to park a quarter mile down the street which is no big deal but just a warning. I thought I got there before the dinner rush but there were no parking spots available on either side of their lot. Also, my friend and I got the very last table available for two people which again was surprising given how early it was in the evening on a Thursday.
The service was okay, but the food was mediocre. I actually had a friend from work refer me to this place when I asked for a recommendation near the airport. She me that the food was really good, so maybe I had a one off experience? I ordered the chicken curry - the taste was fine but my food was not hot (my friend’s food was hot). In my dish, there was not a lot of Curry broth, which I was disappointed about (I’ve never gotten curry that wasn’t soupy). It was mostly chicken and veggies, and then rice came on the side. The dish itself was $20 which wasn’t super expensive, but I now know better than to go back there to get Thai food when I can get authentic Thai food that’s hot and delicious for a few dollars cheaper.
I will say that they are not very many great Dining options in College Park and while I sat inside, it looks like a pretty cool environment outside with cornhole boards and...
Read moreVery nice atmosphere, new, bar restaurant. Got the pad thai with chicken, it was decent--not bad, not great, served with a lemon instead of a lime but had sprouts and peanuts. Seemed a bit inauthentic from menu though, Menu was very limited. No beef or pork--just chicken, shrimp, or fish. Only 3 noodle dishes, and just a few stir fry. Their main entree, Basil "stir fry", didn't use any Holy basil or Thai basil. No prik nam pla or standard condiments, but bartender was able to get me some fish sauce and chili/garlic paste.
Good bartender, she went the extra mile to help me find a beer I liked.
Final note, something I hate to see--they automatically added a 20% tip on the bill for single diner, called it a "service charge", and told me their system couldn't remove it. Bartender DID tell me so I didn't tip twice, but it is a terrible policy to force a 20% tip without recourse. Would be worse if bad service, but the service was good and worth a 20% tip, just wish they left choice with customer where it should be.
Overall I would eat here again, missing my favorite Thai items but still enough choices to find something. $32 for 1 beer and Pad Thai is a bit...
