Black Rock Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Happy Valley

Went to this Happy Valley location this morning and had horrible attitude from the blonde girl working there. When I asked for her name they would not tell me. It started off by me ordering my two americanos and letting the young gal know that I wanted to use my free drink and gave her my phone number. She then tried to charge me for both of them and I again said you said one was free and I would like to use it this time. The blonde girl that was called over to help said do you not have 80 cents to pay for your drinks with attitude. When I explained to her the other gal did not take off my free drink and it just needs to be fixed she told me there was not any way to go back and get my free drink and I just need to pay. I told her she did not need to give me any attitude when she approached the conversation. She continued with nasty attitude telling me to be quiet when she was trying to figure out what to do. Instead of making it right she burst out with attitude the whole time. I have never had such terrible service at any coffee place. I will no longer go to this coffee shop. Peets coffee is across the way from here and had amazing customer service and great coffee.

This is the worst black rock. They make your coffee cold and when you say something about it they say “well you must just like your coffee extra hot so ask for it next time.” Then when you do ask for it extra hot, it’s still only warm and you can instantly chug the coffee. There are no longer any kind workers there. The manager does not care about complaints. If you complain to anyone they will just blame it on you or roll their eyes and walk away. I’m serious about the rolling eyes and walking away. This has happened twice. They don’t wear any name tags so you can’t tell anyone who does what. They also never stir your coffee so you have to do it yourself. And that’s a really hard thing to do while driving. At least you don’t have to worry about spilling it while your stirring it because you won’t get burnt since your coffee is always cold. I went there today for the last time. My coffee again was cold, not stirred and the girl thought that just because I ordered a strawberry smoothie for my child, that I wouldn’t notice she put hardly any strawberry in it. I love the people and the coffee but have always noticed lots of bees flying around. Not an issue until today. I got my coffee, went home and started drinking it. About half way done, I noticed something swishing around in my mouth. I reach in and pull out a dead bee!!! I am so grossed out I literally puked out my coffee. I hope they start paying more attention to the flying insects in their bar...absolute yuck.

UPDATE: I went back and showed them the pic. They were extremely sorry for not catching that, replaced my coffee and gave me a voucher for another free one later on. I appreciate their great customer service but have to admit I’m still weary when...
