Miguel's El Gallo Mexican — Restaurant in Hardinsburg

Visited this establishment on 08-14-21 and arrived around 1900. It was a little busy and waited about 5 minutes for a table as 2 other groups were ahead of us. The chips were fresh and salsa had a good taste flavor. Food was flavorful and not bland. I would say slightly above average taste. But this comes from someone from Southern California so I am spoiled..lol.

I would honestly rate this restaurant 4 stars if it wasn’t for the horrendous service. Our server was not friendly, slow, and just disinterested in being there. I was actually looking around at the other servers and how they were working and realized we drew the short straw. The other 2 groups in front of us were out 30 minutes prior to us leaving. In fact, there was another couple that came in around 5 minutes after that left 15 minutes prior to us. All these examples had different sections with different servers.

I actually had to get up and ask the last at the front (which I believe is an owner) for a box. She brought the box over and said “when you are ready I can check you out”. We told her we’ve been ready for 15 minutes. We boxed up our food and went to the front. As she asked what we had, the servers walked up with the ticket and told her what we had. No thank you or apology for the horrible service. I gave the lady my card and asked the servers name. She then told me “they call him Gordo”. I said well “Gordo” isn’t your best asset. She just kept quiet, didn’t offer an apology or explanation.

The establishment is clean and well decorated. Food is good....

Personally my family and I didnt have a pleasant meal or time here. We get there and get seated and get our drinks water, tea, and a strawberry daiquiri. When the waiter comes back he gives me a virgin daiquiri and lied and said there was little. And brings a Pepsi instead of a tea. He didnt understand English at all. So when he took our order he didnt understand what we wanted without showing him the menu and pointing. So when my mother asked for peppers with hers he didnt understand at all. So we waited almost an hour I asked for more chips and salsa he brought back spicy sauce in a bowl. So I got up and went to another and asked for some more chips and salsa. Then waiting about 20 minutes later we got our food cold and no what we ordered. The waiter asked what we got to drink and they said tea and water. He brought back two waters. Bless his heart but I wont be coming back here. The people that sat a couple tables down left. So I'm thinking he needs to be in the back cooking where he understands whats going on. I hope everyone else who goes here has a better experience...

Horrible service- our server was rude amd couldnt even let us finish our order before walking off, never checked on us to get refills on drinks, had to call him over to finally get a new drink. Long wait- was waited for over 10 mins to be seated( a group of guys walked in way after us amd got seated first. Our server just told us to go to our booth and pointed. We had to ask for menus because they didnt give us any and got rude when we did ask for them. Waited over an hour to finally get our food and tables that came in after us got their food before us. Hot food- never thought i would put this as a negative but it was. Our food was so hot we couldnt eat it. I got my plate and the liquid was boiling. And they put hot plates in front of our 1.5 year old son. Burned my finger on the salad/ beans and rice plate because the dude never said it was hot ( never had one of those plates be so freaking hot) If i could out zero stars i would. Definitely do not recommend this place and will not...
