Hi Blackbear Killeen, TX
This was my second time here. I came to eat brunch with my service animal. The 1st time, there was no issue at all.
After a 30-minute wait, We, myself, friendd, and service animal were unconditionally given two options to eat at Blackbear, no employees, nor management approached us at our entry.
Option 1 - Be seated outside Option 2 - go elsewhere to eat.
I, of course, selected outside. It was a very nice day. I was hungry.
The staff was fabulous and apologetic for having not allowing me, my service animal, nor friend to stay inside to eat due to your (new) rules?
the food was really good, that was the only 5-star experience out of this whole ordeal.
In the outside terrace was absolutely filthy, nasty.
Concrete again, filthy (older & new) spillage, trash, caked dirt and birds on the floor looking for scraps, bird dung; flys and nats; bugs.
Siderwebs all around the bottom outside structures, wrought iron, tables.
Filthy, nasty outside tables, old spillage, food stains, and bird dung.
I had requested mine be throughly cleaned, which was quickly done with a positive attitude.
Other patrons were seated at very big (8-10+ ppl) tables, worse than mine. Looking concerned, but sat down without complaints.
Birds, landing on the tables, pooping, stealing Patrons food, and / or being fed by them.
Fly's & nats. They were a constant annoyance, immediately trying to land on my table, food, and glass. I spent more time swatting at them than trying to eat. Made myself loose my appetite.
Loud between people trying to talk, actually hollar over each other, car alarms blaring. It was terrible, I ended up with a horrible headache.
Perhaps hire a local veteran to steam clean, or pressure wash the concrete walls; concrete floors; glass windows; wrought iron; tables and chairs.
I will not be revisiting this establishment, no 3rd time. I want to enjoy my meal, not be hidden. My first experience excellent. My second experience was...
Read moreI do not even know where to begin. I have NEVER ever heard of Black Bear Diner until it came to the Harker Heights Area. I was determined to see if this place was fantastic, good, or just show. Wowo this place was beyond a 0 in quality of food and service. Our table sat and ordered before two tables sitting next to us I can’t help but believe it is because we’re African American. We didn’t complain I simple told the waitress we haven’t received our bread or salad but the other tables did. She looked at me as if I was stupid. My food came out cold meatloaf cold nah not my cup or tea. Yes she offered to reheat the food but by this time I was already irritated and ready to leave. The ribs were so tough you couldn’t cut them with a knife, fork, or teeth! The cook needs to be fired or the ribs need to come off the menu. The French fries were so dry like they had sat in the warmer too long. They definitely were NOT fresh. The salad was cold and a salad but this tomatoes were massively huge. I didn’t eat them but they were there. I took home the leftovers hoping the bad food and service was a dream but it wasn’t! The best part of my visit was the onion rings they came out HOT and fresh. Management just eyeballs the dining room you should be walking around talking to customers. Your a new spot customer service is crucial in a military city. I am sure the other food items will be better but I won’t ever get the meatloaf or ribs ever again. Not worth the money or time invested into this visit. Date night turned into hitting the drive thru at McDonald’s and that means NOBODY was happy. I hope someone sees this and take this review seriously. This town can make or break you if you want to stay here in business YOU got to give us QUALITY services and QUALITY food! Let me NOT forget the green beans they were a star don’t change that recipe...
Read moreFirst time dining in at Black Bear. My daughter and I went to try it out. We entered the building and I think there were about 5 tables seated. So it was pretty empty. Took a few minutes to be noticed at the front. We were seated and placed an order. Cream pancakes w/over medium eggs bacon and I ordered a side of hash browns. My daughter got the blackberry stuffed French toast. The food was not great. The French toast was just a bear claw dipped in French toast mix. The puff pastry was under baked making it doughy and was so sweet it made your teeth hurt. The pancakes were heavy and dense and the hash browns never made it to the table. Our waitress had only our table that I noticed and spent her entire time at the counter talking to a man. The was another waitress who seemed to be running all the other tables and was very attentive to them all. If you have one table and take an order you should be able to see if something is missing. She didn't check on us ,offer any refills despite facing our direction as she spent her time talking in the front. We got the other waitress to get her so we could have our check with the hash browns removed. She replied we should have told her we were missing an item but can't do that if no one comes to the table. I asked if we paid up front and she responded yes gave us the check and she immediatly turned around and walked right back to chatting with the man at the counter. We stood at the front counter and the other waitress noticed us still standing after a while and said she would get the waitress. We could have walked out and i doubt anyone would've noticed. Our original waitress finally comes up to...
