I took a friend here for her birthday dinner. We had seen the reviews and had great expectations. It was pretty bad, all around. First our server, Bethany? I think it was. We get seated and it takes 5-10 minutes before she comes to the table. She brings no menus and simply wants to know what we want to drink. As we have no menu and no idea what they have, I simply ask for coffee. She moans "I'll have to make some, but sure, no problem" As she turns to leave, we ask if we could have menus. "Sure, no problem" Another 5 minutes or so later, my coffee lands in front of me, with not a pack of sugar, milk, or anything. As she turns to leave again, I ask if I could get some cream. "Of course, no problem" Another 5 minutes pass, and she finally comes to ask if we want any appetizers. We try the "crispy calamari". They arrive 5 minutes later, rubber in a shell, without any flavor whatsoever, served with..of course, Tzatziki. She didn't have any small plates....but she'd try to find us some. I said it's ok, don't worry about it. Not going to wait ANOTHER 5 minutes to see her again. Now I LOVE Tzatziki, just not one bit on my $18 worth 8 small rings of calamari. They usually have a lemon/garlic sauce or AT LEAST a tomato sauce. On the second ring, she must have seen my face, she came to ask how it is and I said "Frankly, it's rubber" And I let her take it away. A few minutes later came the main course. I had the Gyro plate. Comes with 2 sides she says. I am confused..it's gyro.....fries maybe? Anyways, I ask for the salad and a side of veggies. Oh man....some dry, sad looking slices of reshaped gyro meat, I suspect it was microwave heated by the texture and taste. No crunch at any edge, NOTHING to go with, but a pita and Tzatziki! If I had not ordered a salad as side dish, I would have had NOTHING at all to add to it. No onions, no tomatoes, no lettuce, no nothing at all. The side salad had TWO sad little pieces of onion. $16 for a pita with some reheated, no crust, ground meat slices gas station style. I ate half of it and just couldn't go any further. The veggies tasted horrible, not sure what spice fell on those. Can't even describe the flavor of that cauliflower. I never got a refill on my coffee. My friend had the lamb, and she said it was ok, bit overcooked, but fine. She's better than I. When she too was DONE eating, our server came to ask if she wanted some more water. Her glass had been empty since she got the meal. She actually asked her at that time, why she would wait to offer her more water until she was DONE with her meal and ready to go. At this time my credit card had been waiting slightly over the edge of the table to be noticed...another 5 minutes or so. We both agreed the waitress was just completely inattentive and a bit rude. Service, D-, food average C- ambiance? I'd have said nice, if it wasn't for the fact that there was a completely out of place Big Screen TV running and when you first walk in it is DARK until your eyes adjust. Everything was a pain, everything had to be asked for. Nothing was offered. Not even napkins to help with the messy sauces. You just get that one black thing that doesn't soak up anything and then gets all gross while you are suppose to reuse it. No information on drinks, an exchange of "do you have..?" But other then wine, water and soda, you are much on your own
The total came to $40, I guess they didn't charge for the calamari. 1...
Read moreI've been going to Acropolis for many years now and I've spent a lot of money at this restaurant. After its first owner, the lady, left, the restaurant has undergone new ownership. At the beginning, it was OK; it seemed like the new management was trying to keep the restaurant’s reputation for its quality and service. Ever since they changed the chef and the workers, everything has gone down hill: the food and the service, and it’s been going down hill ever since. When the original lady owned the restaurant, the food was flawless every single time. And her chefs looked professional, dressed professional, and acted professional every time. And the service was fast, flawless, and professional. At the beginning of its new ownership, the food was almost the same and the service was OK, but lately the quality of the food and the taste started to change, and on my latest visit with my family to the restaurant, it was a very unpleasant experience: the Gyro was cold, old, and hard; the Greek potatoes were soggy, tasteless, and cold. My sibling loves the Greek Kofta; however, the meatballs were cold, hard, and old. And to add insult to injury, the waitress had no sense of urgency; she was an older white lady with glasses. Our appetizer was sitting at the window for a good 10 minutes; she was just sitting down cutting lemons and did not get up until the owner walked in. Then, she decided to go get the appetizer that we ordered. Additionally, she coughed over the lemon that she was cutting and did not even cover her mouth. Also, she placed my spoon directly on the table and touched it with her bare hands rather than placing it on a napkin. The only waitress there that was working hard was a white young lady and that was it. I noticed in the past few visits that the quality of the food started going downhill. We do not have many authentic restaurants around this area and Acropolis Cuisine was the place to go. But sadly, it looks like the restaurant is not what it was; that's why I gave it one star. If they do not go back to making the food the way it was, ensuring the same quality, and providing good service, I would not...
Read moreIn the past, my family has had a couple of unpleasant experiences with one rude employee there so, we had stopped going there for a while. We only return periodically to pick up their food. Their food quality lately has been inconsistent. Sometimes it is overcooked or burnt with mediocre salads and dry meat. Wraps were ok a couple of times recently, so we decided to go back to the restaurant to try their service. However, after today, I'm done going there to eat their food. My family walked in July 31st at around 1630. It was on a Saturday, so I had expected a bright cheerful vibe from the place. There were two employees, a tall older lady and a dark haired short lady that we had had issues with before. As usual, they didn't greet us. The tall lady took us to a table. We were dining with our toddler and asked for a table with a bench but she replied that it was not allowed. We assumed it was occupied by reservation, so we asked about a corner bench seat that was near the entrance. She responded to us with an angry look and a "No," then dropped off the menu, and walked away. Only a couple of tables were occupied, and only one customer was waiting for pick up. No reservation cards had been placed on those tables, but we were told that we were not allowed to sit at any of other tables. I don't know if it was coincidence, but all the other customers in that restaurants were eating quietly, as if worried about interrupting the food servers. The entire restaurant's vibe was so gloomy and unwelcoming because of those two ladies. Neither of the employees were being attentive to the needs of the customers. The short lady came to the table to ask if we were ready for an order, I said I lost appetite, she greeted us very quickly with, "OK, bye." From walking in to the restaurant to the end of exiting, it was like the employees were asking us why we were there and don't ever come back, so I'm compelled to not go back. That was the most unpleasant restaurant experience in my life time. I really hope the owner finds people who can provide proper...
