Extreme Systems was the first repair shop I had ever been to and I will recommend it until the day I keel over! Everyone is professional, friendly, and very straightforward, I was treated like family and even taught some new things with Greg and Mike working on my laptop right in front of me! No taking it behind a wall and spiking my anxiety, the diagnostics are done right in front of you and for free. What a welcomed respite!
So, my story.
I came in with 2 problems on my Acer R15: the first was that my pc was freezing up, slow and literally unresponsive, DISK space spiking to 100% every time it was launched and auto repair kicking in only to churn for hours. The second was a few of my keys on my keyboard had shorted and pried off. Greg helped me with the first and explained some of the possibilities, all the while teaching me about hard drives and the Windows systems as it whole. Lo and behold, my drive was going dead and needed replacing to which Greg gave me a list of options with each pro and con and ultimately I upgraded to a new SSD (since it would also help with battery life, something I also had problems it. It was a win-win) He gave me a price estimate and made sure to stay within that range (between $250 for the same drive + labor and $400 with the upgraded ssd + labor). Didn't go over by a cent despite spending an extra 3 hours extracting files and making sure I got everything I originally had on the pc. I really appreciated him going the extra mile and didn't even charge me, honestly wasn't expecting it.
After he performed the needed surgery my laptop was working like brand new! And they called me so that I could pick it up and await my keyboard part for the next repair (my pc has a backlit keyboard so needed the whole thing replaced). Insert Mike flying through the replacement in a few hours, even stayed at least 10 minutes after the store was closed so I could come pick my laptop up. Again, these two went above and beyond, they exceeded all of my expectations.
TL;DR: Go here, don't go anywhere else. Their service, knowledge, and honesty is such a delicious delicacy that you CANNOT find anywhere else. And their prices are reasonable with how quick their service is (of course depending on your needs). Don't need any other people touching my laptop expect Greg and Mike. Thank you both for the amazing work and exceeding all my expectations! Definitely earned a...
Read moreI cannot rate this business high enough. Let me start by saying that I grew up, the daughter of a software engineer who built computers from scratch for fun. In the first grade I asked him to teach me how to build a robot, and the next thing I know we were building one from scratch, programming and all (obviously him and I just held the screws, lol). I had access to computers a lot sooner than my peers, and would guess that I am a little more tech savvy than my non-tech peers. I explain all of this to say that it takes A LOT to impress me when it comes to computers...and this place impressed me.
From their customer service, to their abilities and skills, their prompt attention, quickly resolving my computer issues, answering my never ending questions, breaking parts down for me to better understand, showing me what was actually wrong with my computer, taking the time to teach me (not talk to me like I am a ding dong), the list goes on. Extreme Systems is one of the best businesses I have ever encountered, not just computer wise, EVER.
I worked directly with Greg, however if he stepped away to get a part or tool, another associate would jump in to speak with me and answer my questions. The entire staff is amazing. I was clearly the least intelligent person in the room surrounding computers, but they did not make me feel that way like a lot of other places will. And by the way, yes they diagnosed and fixed my computer right in front of me on the spot. I did not have wonder if what they were telling me was true. Depending on your computer problem that might not always be possible, but it can show you that if they can fix it right in front of you, they will.
They will be the only place I work with for computers moving forward. They are reasonably priced, I'd say even very inexpensive for all that they offer. Extreme Systems and Greg function off the idea that they know they offer a good service with knowledgeable people. They do not want to make their profit off of price gouging and making customers feel ripped off. Rather, they make their money from return customers and a loyal base who continue to go to them. I have yet to experience this business mindset at that level in Killeen or the surrounding areas.
This place is one of a kind, and I cannot encourage you enough, to make them your go to spot for all things computers and...
Read moreTo their credit they rebuilt my rig for me and it was a very clean looking build through the glass panel. I am a believer in helping small business and went with them as there reviews were positive. My first docked star was due to them stripping out the two thumb screws on the left side panel of my case that hides all the wires and putting regular case screws in their place without informing me or mentioning of the mishap. I noticed it when I got home and was setting up the system. The second docked star was due to the stores sales practices. To start my build was to be an i9 system. I paid up front half of the build cost as they were to order the needed parts. A week went by so I stopped in the store to see the status of the parts as they never called me. Before the build I was informed it would contain 3600mhz ram and even showed me the box of 3600mhz ram that came with all the parts order. They even gave me the empty box of 3600mhz ram when I took home the rig. I didn't check the ram speed of 3200mhz while in the store as I only looked at the total quantity of 32gb ram. I will be more critical in my inspection of their work in the future. Upon seeing the speed at home I checked my parts invoice and it did show 3200mhz ram. My issue with this is who would do a high end build and not put in top speed ram. Also they do not put in the most current Bios updates from the motherboard manufacturer even if you ask for it. Also there was no cable management done on the steel side panel that they stripped out my thumbscrews. Overall it was an ok experience. Just make sure to check and double check the equipment. Especially if the case is one they don't carry and may have had limited experience with. My son just asked me for a gaming rig for his birthday so my next build project will be from the ground up with one of the cases...
