J & B's Cafe — Restaurant in Harlingen

My parents came down to visit and we decided to give this place a try. First off, the food was great, the dessert was EVEN better. I was not a huge fan of the iced coffee, but I also got it unflavored so might try again with flavor. The service, however, was THE best I've seen in quite some time! While there, the lovely waitress was an absolute blast to speak with. Very engaging and offered help with ordering. Another dear lady there was also very kind and made dessert suggestions, but most importantly of all of this, literally RAN after us a good couple hundred yards down the way as we left the restaurant and my husband's very sentimentally important cap he left on the table. This was also during market days! It is his old unit's hat from Georgia and it means a lot to him and she ran it all the way to us! I am so incredibly thankful, as is he. Was there for the 1st time over a month ago with my sister. We met Mrs. Beth the owner at that time. We introduced ourselves & told her a little about ourselves. Today was our 2nd visit since that day. Beth greeted us by our name, remembered where I worked...even went as far as remembering my birthday! Wow what a memory & way of making you feel not only welcomed but to know that she was actually listening. I mean that respectfully. We are in such a hurry these days that not many truly stop to listen. Service is & was AWESOME again & Mrs Beth along w/Dee topped off our experience by slicing up some of that delicious red velvet cake & lighting a candle all the while singing Happy Birthday!!! What a sweet soul! May the Lord continue to bless their business abundantly. Highly highly recommend!!! 👍🏻👍🏻

Everything about J&B's Cafe was wonderful! We were a little late for breakfast, but they still made it for us anyway, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and good quality. We added an extra egg to our breakfast bowls, the eggs were fluffy and REAL (not always the case in breakfast places nowadays), and the bacon was cooked perfectly, not thin or greasy at all. The portions were perfect! We came because of the "great coffee" and were not disappointed. Do yourself a favor: skip the oversized plates of junk you get at an IHOP or Denny's, and instead support a real gem of Harlingen downtown.
