Taqueria La Mexicana — Restaurant in Harlingen

Food was good but service was rude. First waitress didnt greet or say a word to us just placed the menus on the table, so we nicely ask her if she could get someone to please cleabln the spilled beans that were left on the table she simply sets down a stack of napkins in the middle of the table and takes the top one and pushes it towards my son as if shes asking him to clean it! Not one word just simply pushes the napkin, so my husband says can you please get someone to come wipe it down with a rag (not asking for nothing impossible, just what simply should have been done after the previous customers left! I mean come on it was spilled beans!) And she looks towards another waiter there and makes him a face like she didnt want to tend us just because we needed our table clean and she just walks away and doesnt say a word while my husband was asking her if they had big red!! The waiter then comes to clean our table and ask our drinks and took over service the whole time as if we did something wrong to her! She was very rude!! We thought all was well until we noticed him and her looking our way whispering and laughing. Hoping everything was okay and they didnt do something to our food or something because what else could have been so funny!! Sad that the food is good but we do not want to return after such rude service! Why go into work if your going to act like that when someone asks to please clean a table. I wonder if she would have eaten on top of someone elses...

Good, not great. Took the family out while visiting the area. There were 8 of us total so a pretty good size table.

Was a little scared when we walked in at 6 pm and the place was completely empty but it did pick up while we were there. I suppose that was a positive for us that they could seat a table of 8 immediately.

Mixed reviews on food and beverage. I think we all agreed that the starter beans were good. I got some tacos with flour tortillas which I thought were pretty tasty but my wife said the corn tortillas for her tacos were stale and dry. The horchata was pretty good except it was kinda gritty which I’ve not experienced anywhere before, I would have definitely preferred it not to be.

Service was decent. Waitress did a nice job of checking with us and refilling drinks. When the food came, it was “auctioned off” which is a pet peeve of mine. Food should be placed in front of the person who ordered it without having to ask, “who ordered this” and “who ordered that”. I ordered my tacos without tomato’s but when they came they had tomato’s so that caused some confusion during the “auction” and my son ended up with my plate for a bit but the waitress did discover the mistake and got it corrected quickly.

We usually spend a couple weeks down here in the RGV during the summer and we love to check out the restaurants. There are a lot of 4 and 5 star eateries down here so a 3 star we likely wouldn’t...

I called Taqueria la Mexicana, twice, but no one answered. I've never been here so I wanted to ask a few questions, nonetheless, I still drove there. Their parking is kinda tight and I didn't realize their drive thru was infront of the door until I parked in a space across the drive thru infront of the door. The lady asked me what I wanted to order, but never having been there I had to request a menu. I ordered street tacos with biztec, al pastor, tripa for my mom and dad and a torta for me. I had a 30 minute drive back home so my torta ended up with a soggy part on the bottom. Once I removed the soggy bread the taste was fantastic! Good balance of meats, cheese, lettuce and tomato. However, the avocado was not spread across the entirety of the bread so the 2nd half was not as good. The beans are phenomenal! My mom and dad said they absolutely loved their tacos and were very authentic. Since we placed 4 orders we got 4 beans, 4 green sauces (green was my favorite sauce) and 4 red sauces(both very spicy), 8 lime wedges, and a huge bundle of cebolla asada.
