We visited on a Sunday, early evening. The place is called B-52s so we were a little surprised when we walked in and everything was in Spanish. ( I grew up in Spanish Harlem in New York so that wasn't really a problem, just surprising.) We sat at the bar. Multiple televisions showed the soccer game and there were dining tables towards the back of the venue but the lighting prevented the environment from feeling cozy. We sat there for a while before we were acknowledged with a forced smile. We ordered a rum and coke and a Long Island Iced Tea. Our drinks came in small glasses (plastic) packed with ice and cost $10 each. There was a lot of foot traffic behind the bar, some of the waitresses wearing thin shirts and no bra, I suppose in an effort to encourage better tips. At one point, one of the two men that worked there made a blender drink containing egg whites. The blender was loud and used at the front of the bar directly in front of us. The drink sat there, abandoned for the next 40 minutes, while he brought in cases of beer then disappeared in the back. I watched the drink slowly separate. It was still sitting on the bar when we left. My husband and I were hoping to make this one of our weekly Night Out spots since it is so close to our house but unfortunately we did not feel particularly welcomed or excited to be there. It just wasn't the...
Read moreMy experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I was visiting NJ and this restaurant showed to have good reviews. We decided to try the fish ceviche, the fish had good consistency, it was thin enough to eat but the lemon juice tasted a bit bitter like it was a bit old or perhaps it was lemon juice from a bottle. I told the waitress and she said their lemons are squeezed every morning. Well, perhaps the lemon juice had been sitting there for hours because it wasn’t fresh. The Ceco de Cordero was a bit better , part of the meat was tender and part , I could hardly bite into. The white rice was slightly under cooked. The beans Were good. The Papa a la huancaina was decent. The only thing that was very good was the Ají Verde . The Medium ceviche was $25 and not worth $10 in my opinion. I left the plate on the table. To add to insult, I was charged $9 tip on my $68 bill. I asked the waitress about it and she said they charge tip. I couldn’t sit and argue about it, I was over this place. I didn’t even get a chance to decide how much to pay for tip. I’m used to paying 20% tip for a party of 8 but I only had one more person with me. Before you decide to go to this place , you should reconsider. I wish I would have decided on another place to...
Read moreThe food from here is great. I have always gotten it as taken and loved it and finally decided to go eat there with friends last night. We got in and security walked over stared us down for a bit then ID'd us which is normal no problem. Except for the rest of our meal he continued to periodically walk over near us and just stare at our table while we were peacefully trying to enjoy our meal. There were drunk, loud patrons and a man who couldn't stand but he continued to only watch us. As we were making our way out we saw some family stopped for a second and a drunk man began to verbally harass me and my other female friend, right in front of this security guard who did nothing. The man went so far as to TOUCH my friend and still security did and said nothing and simply waited for us to turn to leave and immediately held the door signaling he wanted to get us out. I had to move her from the man myself who continued to say things as security continued to do nothing. I have never had such a terrible dining in experience in my life. The food is good here but I cant reccomend ever going there due to...
