Bama's Blessing Barbecue — Restaurant in Harrodsburg

I have attempted to like this restaurant on a couple of occasions. My first visit I ordered a cheeseburger and mac & cheese. The cheeseburger was very overcooked but I was starving and ate in anyway. The mac & cheese was only ok. BBQ was dry and overcooked. The chicken philly sandwich was very chewy and dry. Staff was friendly. BBQ sauce is not good. Something off about it. After a few months we decided to give it another chance. Sometimes you just have an off day. Unfortunately my second visit was worse than the first. We went for their seafood buffet on a Friday evening at 6pm. We were seated and ordered. All 3 in our party ordered the buffet. We were told we could help ourselves. With no signage and no employee behind the buffet we thought like most buffets it was self service. I was almost finished getting my food when the owner comes from out of now where and starts chastising us for being behind the buffet in a very loud voice so that the entire restaurant could hear. When he realized that the entire restaurant was listening and staring he lowered his voice and repeated that we were not supposed to be behind the buffet and that he would serve us. Very embarassing and unprofessional! The buffet was not stocked with fresh food and did not have enough food on it to feed the 3 of us. Also the food was cold or semi warm. the owner told us he would be bringing fresh food out in just a few minutes which never materialized in a restaurant full of people until we were almost ready to go. Numerous customers had to wait on the owner to serve them from the buffet because he was not maintaining his position behind the buffet to serve people. Makes me wonder where he was washing his hands to serve food on a buffet when i witnessed him numerous times come from behind the buffet line to either go back into the kitchen or help the lady trying to run the register. They also ran out of sweet tea. At 6:00 pm. On a Friday night. I wanted to like and support this restaurant but honestly don't understand how their doors...

Ordered the sampler platter which comes with brisket, pulled pork, a half rack of pork ribs, chicken, and texas toast. It also comes with 3 sides, of which I chose the mac n' cheese, baked beans, and corn.

Got there shortly after they opened on a Monday. Despite that, the food was lukewarm with the brisket looking more like roast beef (no visible pink smoke rings, meat darker than it should be on the inside, not very moist), and the pork ribs were dry and tough with large pieces of unchewable gristle.

The sides were quite flavorful, but come in very small portioned cups which is disappointing considering the high price of the sampler platter. I have to wonder if I would've received better portions on the sides if I just ate in instead.

Unfortunately, they also forgot the corn and texas toast in the order as well, so I had to drive back. The lady running the register and phone was very polite and corrected it though, which I appreciated.

Overall? I'm a bit disappointed and underwhelmed considering I've been craving BBQ and Harrodsburg desperately needs more variety restaurant-wise instead of more pizza chains and fast food. Update: Still haven't fixed their menu to show you can't select the same 2 meats for the 2 meat dinner. So I didn't eat there.

Friday afternoon around 5:30. I'm surprised how few people were there. Stopped in and ordered to go. Girl at the cash register was indifferent. Not mean. Not nice.

I ordered the 2 meat, 2 side dinner. Noting in the pic of the menu, it says choice of meat. My meats were brisket and brisket. She says, no. I have to order 2 "different" meats. I said, menu says choice of meat. Nope. Won't do that. If I had been alone I would have left. I told her the menu needs changed. No reaction.

After ordering, we sat to wait. Used chairs. Mine was cracked on the padded seat. After a short time, the guy in the back brought her 4 Styrofoam containers. As she put them in the bag I said is that ours? She said, 'I don't know yet!" I'm like, what the heck? There was no other orders at the time! Nobody else had come in to order. After she put all the containers in the bag, and then the receipt, she brought the bag over to us. Food was ok. Nothing special.

My 2 adult kids came back for the buffet Sunday. Limited offering. No brisket.
