PhoGo Express — Restaurant in Hartford

Best Vietnamese food I've had in a long time! Better than what I've found in bigger cities. Authentic but with a twist on spices and sauces that stands out. Tastes like what you'd get at a high quality sit down restaurant yet in a clean modern take-out setting with a couple counter seats for eating in. Friendly owners, local CT family restaurant chain, they have a location in Avon too. Had pork dumplings (crispy outside, juicy inside, topped with peppery spices and a really good dipping sauce), chicken rice bowl (lots of fresh veggies and a cilantro sauce in the rice that is incredible. Textures of the rice, perfectly grilled chicken and crunchy veggies was really nice), beef pho (broth so flavorful and really nice blend of spices), Vietnamese ice coffee -- all so good. Got to chat with the owners - they make all their sauces from scratch, no MSG and no peanuts if people are looking out for that. Also got to sample shrimp (cooked really well -- not rubbery, topped with a bit of peppery savory sauce) and a guava cheesecake spring roll dessert. So good! Mouth watering again thinking about it. Definitely check it out. They have really good prices and at the time had a lunch deal as well for $10 dishes (good portion sizes too).

Perfect little quick stop spot to grab a quick bowl of pho when your limited for time but need to crave that fix!! I usually am not about take out pho but they are a little more unique as they give u a neat little bowl with all the ingredients which u pour the broth into presto.. an instant bowl of pho! Amazing Vietnamese food! Last time I had Vietnamese food was in SoHo near my old office. That place was awesome but the food here is much better. Try the pork bahn mi!
