Bushnell Park is a gem in the heart of Hartford. I visited on a Saturday morning with friends and their children, and the kids enjoyed climbing, jumping, and swinging at the brand new playground, which just opened in November. It is located just next to the carousel, making for a fun few hours. I appreciated the way that the playground was designed to evoke nearby architecture, and my friends' elementary-aged son appreciated its educational aspect. He pointed out to the adults that there was information about how bills become laws, presented in a way that kids could understand. Read moreOne of the oldest public municipal parks in the US, it's located in the heart of the city. There's limited roadside parking, and we had to cross the street to get to it.
The water in the moat is full of algae, and the fountains are doing a good job of keeping it as clean as possible. There are benches for people to sit and take on the view. There were sparrows taking mud baths, which was very cute to watch as there's water right next to them. But there's a purpose to it.

However, if you overlook those isn’t big you will see this is a very well put together but. I enjoy walking through it and spending time in the center of the city of Hartford. If you look past all of the bad, and focus on some of the good in this city, you will see the beauty of this little city.
