One of the oldest public municipal parks in the US, it's located in the heart of the city. There's limited roadside parking, and we had to cross the street to get to it. The water in the moat is full of algae, and the fountains are doing a good job of keeping it as clean as possible. There are benches for people to sit and take on the view. There were sparrows taking mud baths, which was very cute to watch as there's water right next to them. But there's a purpose to it. There were a few shady characters and a couple of guys who were riding their scooters inside the park very loudly. Was not sure how it was permitted in the park. Never seen a motorized vehicle in any park before.

We bring our 1-year-old to Bushnell Park quite often! Our little one enjoys not only the playground area but the carousel! Some features include, large slides, climbing areas and structures, a balanced beam, a little kid area, and even sitting places for parents and caregivers. We love walking to Bushnell, or using the scooters to get there. Parking is a breeze and free after 6:00 p.m.

Huge ground and a great place for a stroll or brisk walking or any exercise. It’s clean. It has a small pond with benches around it where you can just sit and relax. There’s a nice playground and a carousel. No place to grill. No picnic tables. Parking is limited on the side of the road. There’s a garden but the flowers haven’t bloomed yet. I’m sure it will very pretty once they do.

Definitely a Jewel in Hartford. Probably a lot better in the Spring and Summer. The different varieties of trees are all marked. There are lots of memories from the course of American history. I’m glad I had time to stop and read the signs. I hope Hartford keeps coming back.

Love the carousel. Love the architecture of the towers and the beautiful capitol building. The playground is also very pretty and modeled after the capitol building. Good time for the kiddos.
