Agave Grill — Restaurant in Hartford

Honestly, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I started the evening a little early for my reservation, so I sat at the bar and ordered a few margaritas for happy hour. About the only thing happy about that was the taste of that margarita. The bartender had a permanent scowl on her face the entire time, and was rude to every patron that sat down for service. After my party got there, we were sat at a table. The very sweet waitress took our drink order, and we ordered tableside guac. At that time the rest of my table had ordered a drink, and I hadn't ordered one from our waitress, as I was thinking we would have had our drinks AND food and have been semi on our way out the door. BOY WAS I WRONG. Queue 30 minutes into our dining experience.....no drinks to be found. Our POOR WAITRESS was the only one on the floor, helping the entire dining room. She didn't have time to breath, let alone have time to come and apologize to us for our extended wait - but she did anyways. I decided that rather than wait who knows how long, i'd just go order a drink at the bar to help out our waitress. I go up to the bar where I had been sitting previously, and the bartender asks me with attitude if I had been sat at a table. I said yes, but our waitress is EXTREMELY busy, so I figure i'd make her life a little easier and order a drink from the bar - considering the rest of our table had been waiting over 30 minutes for their drinks. She starts yelling - LITERALLY YELLING at me that I had to order from my server, and she has no idea what i'm talking about because SHE doesn't have any drinks to make. Meanwhile rolling her eyes at me, and perhaps being the most rude to me that anyone has been in my life.

I want to make myself clear, that at no point, at any restaurant should an employee treat a customer like this. AND I WAS BEING POLITE TO HER. Management reached out to me after I posted my original review. I haven't seen that problematic waitress recently, but I haven't been to Agave Grill as often as I would like to - just a little leftover anxiety. I'll update the star count to what Agave Grill actually deserves for their amazing food, atmosphere, and customer care.

Agave Grill has pretty good food and overall it's a neat little establishment. I'm still surprised they don't have the ingredients to make a rumchata, but I can overlook that.

What I can't overlook is the terrible waitress my husband and I have unfortunately had the past two times we've visited. There is a dirty blond-haired waitress with glasses who keeps passive aggressively rushing us out the door by clearing away our table. The previous visit, she asked my husband if he was done eating, ignored his response (he was not done), and took his food away. This most recent visit, I was literally mid-bite and she took my plate away - she didn't even bother asking. I don't understand why she was in such a rush. The place wasn't even half full, it was middle of the workday (the restaurant had only opened a couple of hours prior to our visit), and we were eating at a normal pace without having an hour long conversation.

This waitress needs to be retrained to have basic manners and asking very simple questions: "Are you done eating? May I take your plate to clear some space?" And she needs to actually listen to and respect her customers' responses. However, seeing as how her behavior has gotten worse between these two visits, and we're probably not the only ones getting such treatment, this waitress is past hope and needs to be replaced...

I stop at agave today after a long day at work last time here wasn’t good today it’s not different in fact was worse! I was at the bar for 8 min no bar tender in there then I have to use the restroom and when I come back to the bar still no body there then I sit at the table and I wait for another 10 min until I have to said something like hey anybody works here ! Immediately I have 3 servers and the manager which all of them were talking in the back of the kitchen I know this because I saw theme Finally, I get my food but then I ordered hot sauce which I wait another five minutes where my server she was cleaning the hot sauce bottles while she was watching a video on a cell phone with her manager in the back of the kitchen now at this point, I’m like, I don’t wanna be here. My food is cold no servers and I’m in the restaurant for more than 35 minutes with an empty stomach .I see no one come to my table to give me a service I decide to leave the restaurant, when all of a sudden the server which it was not my server yelling on me in the middle of the street because I leave the restaurant, but no one attended me. No one is give me a service. Long story short, I paid for the food and a glass of wine… which was $35 and I gave her a tip or $20 This is the last time I gave the opportunity to this restaurant I never go back in there and I will not recommend this place at all I was really disappointed No taste on the food really bland Use to be one of the best Mexican restaurant in Hartford now is...
