The XL Center is a nice arena located in downtown Hartford. The sightlines for sports events are very good and there are no obstructed views. Seating is fairly comfortable. The stadium has a good history to it. It was home to the NHL’s Hartford Whalers. Perhaps more importantly, the Men’s and Women’s UConn basketball teams also play here. Make sure to see the banners from the NHL’s Hartford Whalers, the AHL’s Wolfpack, and the UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball in the rafters. One of the things that sets the XL Center apart from other arenas is the great selection of concessions. Not only do they have the standard stadium food but they also have Chick fil-A, Randy’s Wooster St. Pizza, Ted’s Steamed Burgers, The Sausage Guy, the Portly Pig, and Carvel. There are also a few bars in the arena. There is a great selection of beers including some many local craft beers. For Wolfpack games there is a curtain that goes across most of the upper deck. Tickets for most games are only sold in the lower deck areas. There are few rows in the upper deck that were not covered, I think the arena should consider selling tickets for those seats as they have good views. Another nice perk of the XL Center is that it is centrally located in downtown Hartford. There is easy access to plenty of the great things that Hartford offers to do nearby. You can park at the XL Center, but it might be easiest to park further away and avoid traffic jams. Staff in the arena was friendly and helpful. Worth a trip to see it, the XL Center does...
Read moreIt's a venue with a lot of Rich history but all that seems to go out the door when it comes to their security detail. This is the second time this has happened to me. A friend of mine being wrongfully ejected from a AHL hockey game. We are coming as fans often opposing team, we understand that there is a line that cannot be crossed, and we do not cross that line last night. It is very saddening when opposing teams fans somewhat don't want to come to your Venue, to support their team because of how your security team treats them. And for the second time we were not allowed to speak on what had happened and just forced out. Was refused the ability to speak with head of security, instead security got police to escort us out of the game with 15 minutes left in the third. As our rides are inside and we are now stuck outside in sub-freezing temperatures until the end of the game. While standing outside we could see not only other Springfield fans who are sitting in our section and others but what looked to be Hartford fans as well going to be speaking on our behalf. It was a terrible experience last night but our team came out with the win in the last seconds. It won't deter me from going to away games to support my team but it's very saddening when fans don't want to go to an away game because of how poorly they are treated by security at away games. But I will be back March 28th when we go back down to Hartford to cheer on my team twice as loud and twice as hard and again with respect and hopefully I will get...
Read moreGreat concert!! Everyone who went to that Christian concert was blessed that night!!! That was a cardboard poster of Toby Mac that was wedged between my husband and myself. He is a gifted Christian musician as well as the rest of his band. There were other Christian band's at the XL center in Hartford that evening. The sound system was fantastic the arena filled the seats of many Christian fans of these bands. These bands were great in how they performed and how most importantly were great in spreading God's word!!!!!! God gave his ultimate gift to the world and that is His Son "JESUS Christ " he was sacrificed on the cross and rose from the grave and overcame death of our sins on the 3rd day. We are forgiven by the Lord's grace and mercy. He is alive!!!! And we have redemption and a new life in Christ full of blessings and miracles because of what He did for us on the cross. We believe in the crucifixion we believe he conquered death. As long as we have the faith of a mustard seed we can move mountains. My faith is strong and God's plan for us is to love one another and believe in his Son who is a part of the Holy trinity Father ,son, holy spirit in one. Jesus is God who came down in the flesh to help save the world not to condemn it. Please remember that. This is a fallen world and thanks to the XL center in Hartford for being a part of spreading God's word for such a blessed evening that...
