Taste mediterranean kitchen — Restaurant in Hartford

Visited Taste Mediterranean Kitchen at Parkville Market with a party of 8 and was really hoping for something flavorful — but it fell flat. I ordered the chicken shawarma platter and the chicken shawarma over rice. The platter came with fries, coleslaw, and a basic salad (tomato, cucumber, carrot), while the over-rice dish was topped with the same chicken and sauce.

The problem? Everything was underseasoned. The rice was plain, the fries had zero seasoning, and the chicken lacked the bold spices you’d expect from Mediterranean cuisine. Even the wrap in the platter had a bland mayo-based sauce that didn’t do much to help.

When you think Mediterranean food, you expect bold, fresh, vibrant flavors — something to excite the palate. Unfortunately, this just wasn’t it. Everyone in my group tried a bite, and the consensus was the same: disappointing and flavorless.

With so many great vendors at Parkville Market, I won’t be returning...

I came to Hartford 2 years ago from Palestine and I can confidently say this is the only place to go if you want authentic Levant/middle eastern food. I have tried almost everything on the menu and there are no wrong choices. The Mansaf is made with real Jameed and will knock you out, the Shawerma is the best in Hartford, the "Chicken Cigar" is just how my mother used to make Musakhan and the Knafeh took me straight back home. Amazing food and amazing people from Jordan, I was looking for a place like this ever since I came to the US and finally got it when they opened in Parkville. I took my mother here for a birthday lunch, and she left a happy camper! She chose the salmon dish, it was delectable. I had enjoyed the best falafel sandwich EVER. It was moist and full of flavor. The stuffed grape leafs were PACKED full of flavor. dont skimp out on the mint lemonade. It was so refreshing and paired well with the meal. To top it off, the baklava was one of kind, with a hint of cardamom and flaky crust- I was sent to heaven. I really appreciate how sweet and attentive the owner is. She really puts alot of love into her meals and you can tell. I love that Its family owned. When you get there her husband is happily cooking in the background....
