I stopped into Señor Tomas Mexican in Hartland—one of the oldest Mexican restaurants in the state—and was blown away. I ordered the carne asada tacos, and they were absolutely packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and served with fresh onion and cilantro. After chatting with the owner (who was incredibly friendly and passionate about his food), he encouraged me to try a taco he’s considering adding to the menu. Let me just say—it needs to be added. Bold, flavorful, and topped with a bit of guac, it was the kind of bite that makes you pause and appreciate real, authentic cooking. The food, the atmosphere, and the genuine hospitality all make Señor Tomas a must-visit. I’ll absolutely be back.

I like to support local businesses, especially one as nice as this one. A family-run restaurant with nice outdoor seating when the weather is nice, Senor Toma's has a great blend of traditional dishes along with modern takes on Latin classics. I had a Hawaiian burrito (I think that's what it was called) topped with ham and pineapple and filled with seafood. It was great! There are also good drink specials and the service is excellent.

I had Eva's apple salad. It was greens and red bell peppers and almonds and chopped apple with THE MOST delicious apple cider vinegar dressing. On the owner's advice, I chose the crispy breaded chicken breast rather than the grilled. Let me tell you, the meat was so tender, the delicate crunch of the pepper and the apple, and the sweet tang of the dressing, they all came together perfectly! I could eat this every day!

Hopefully this helps bring change.... Walked in just before 7pm on a Saturday night with my wife and our 3 children. Multiple open tables available and we were seated by the door. We asked to sit at a different open table and were told no. I saw later the reason we were told no was so that employees could wrap silverware. About 5 minutes went past and another group of 2 came in and were seated. Another 5 minutes past and still no waiter at our table while the group after us had their order taken and drinks arrived. Another 2 minutes and our waiter arrived. We ordered drinks and we were told they did not have root beer even though we showed it to him on the menu. We tried ordering and were told that we couldn't have multiple items that were on the menu. Asked for ground beef and grilled chicken for our kids and were told they were not available... after my wife ordered Fajitas with grilled chicken and I ordered a burrito with ground beef. The last straw before we left was the waiter telling us that how we were trying work around him telling us they didn't have things for our kids and ordering other items was that he told us it would be expensive for us and we wouldn't like that. We offered to pay for our chips and salsa and left $$$ for that. On the way out I asked the host if there was a manager on duty to speak with and he said yes. Then walked over by his coworkers who were wrapping silverware. After a couple minutes no manager came and I joined my family in the car. Again hopefully this brings change so the next family has a...

Not quite what it used to be, but the staff is still very nice.

Been coming here since I was a kid and the husband and I used to visit frequently as it was a short walk from our house in Hartland. Now, as out-of-state residents he likes to visit when we’re “home”.

My husband always gets the Nopalitos con Queso, which has been very good on each visit, but I’m sad that nothing else lives up to my previous expectations!

Most recent visit I got Caldo de Cameron which I remember being excellent, but this time was just several shrimp drowned in what seemed like warm salsa with a dollop of prepackaged guacamole on top. My cornbread had clearly been reheated in the microwave and while probably excellent when it was fresh, was chewy and collapsed after being zapped. My daughter’s chimichanga was somewhat doughy and both of us thought the filling tasted a like canned chili. The side of rice was overcooked and mushy in some parts but dried out and crunchy in others- had clearly been sitting much too long.

Our server was very sweet and attentive, but even her lovely personality won’t drag us back for Mexican food that’s much more expensive that other local places, but falls short in taste and quality.

If we’re back it will be for a to-go order of the nopalitos, but unfortunately...

I've visited this place a few times now and haven't had a BAD experience, but it's never been good enough that I want to go back... Because of a scheduling conflict we ended up in the area this past Saturday without a reservation to our usual place so we decided to try this place again... Meh... margaritas were pretty good, but everyone in our party was underwhelmed with the food, and we're pretty sure the waiter did not like us... They close at 10 and by 8:45 the waiter gave us our bills, without asking us if we were done, and then by 9:30 they basically asked us to leave. I get it, we were the only ones there by that point... But maybe change your hours to reflect what your staff thinks is the proper closing time... That was awkward and embarrassing. It will probably be another 5 years before we try this place again.

**Edit: Sorry, I cannot figure out how to respond to your response -- I attached a screen shot of your Facebook page, where we saw your hours, and of my Google timeline showing when we were at your establishment. We left at 9:38 pm and finished our conversation in the parking lot (why it shows 9:45 pm as the leave time). The tip was more because I tried some of my friend's combo platter, so included $4 extra...
